Help me love Iris again!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

I love the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f], but in the last couple of days it’s been seeming less and less special. It’s probably because I’ve been stressing so much over middle name combos for it, and I am still a bit bothered by the popularity. I love the name so much though! I know it’s weird to ask, but will some of you tell me what you love about the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f]? I hope it will help me feel better about it again.

All the best,
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]

I love how it’s a really pretty flower!

iris!!

th

I also love its sound and how it looks. It’s just such a gorgeous name
For a middle, may I suggest [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]? :))

Iris isn’t a name that’s used left and right, it’s known but not everywhere. I love the energy that comes with the name, it somehow connects to the word radiate to me, so it radiates positive energy imo. The flowers are so pretty too, and the sound appeal. I love the ‘r’ and ‘s’ sounds! It has this wonderfully pleasing visual that comes to mind!

Middle names -
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] Lucienn
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]

Good luck [name_f]Annie[/name_f]!

This is always so frustrating! I’ve been feeling this way with some of my favorites as well.

When I hear the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f] it always makes me smile. It was my great aunt’s name and it brings back memories of an adorably cluttered old house, fresh baked cookies, and listening to the summer rain through her open kitchen window.

I’m sure you know that [name_f]Iris[/name_f] means “rainbow”. How sweet is that for a little girl?! I could imagine a little [name_f]Iris[/name_f] with bouncy blonde curls, green eyes, and a gentle, shy smile. I also love the botanical aspect of [name_f]Iris[/name_f].

If you’re a 90’s music fan, there is always the nod to the Goo Goo Dolls song. Which I LOVE!

Hope this helped a little

Edit: a few [name_f]Iris[/name_f] combinations

There’s this little girl called [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], who at the age of 4 was already creating otherworldly whimsical paintings. I saw her video on youtube, and when I first heard her name I imediatelly thought it was “a very special name for a very special girl” lol.

Maybe not a helpful reason, but I like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] because of my grandma! She used to love them, grew irises behind our garage, and had SO many iris-themed things in her house. I inherited some artwork and a light-switch cover covered in irises when she passed. Plus, they’re purple, and she did and I do ADORE the color purple haha. She’s so lively and strong and for a floral name, you’ve got to admit, she does feel much more unexpected than [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], or even [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! Maybe not [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], since it’s less popular in the states, but if you’re in the UK, maybe that’s different… Plus, the nn Rissy is super cute.

If a name gets stale, I say let it go. I love [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Irene[/name_f] both.

[name_u]Van[/name_u] Gogh’s Irises are my calendar picture for [name_u]March[/name_u]! The smell of an iris is my favourite ever (supermarket irises don’t seem to have a scent, sadly but I’d recommended nose diving - gently - into any iris you see growing in the wild).
I love the way that [name_f]Iris[/name_f] has this literal floral association but also links to eye colour, rainbows and iridescence. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] isn’t floaty and light like the petals of her namesake, she’s concise and no nonsense. I think this allows room for any personality to grow with her - you can’t pin her down. She’s well appreciated but still her own woman.

I adore the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f]! I love how it looks and sounds and that it is not a conventional format for a girls name end in a or the “ee” sound. It is distinctive and beautiful. I also love the flower, and I love that [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is the goddess of the rainbow
