We already have two daughters called [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]. If we ever have a third my husband would love to use [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. He’s put it forward the last two times and I’ve pushed for other names because I like it but don’t love it. Now I’ve used my top two choices though I don’t have any other girls names I truly love so would be nice to use his favourite- if I could just learn to love it instead of like it.
So what do you think a [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is like as a person? What do you associate the name with? What do you love about the name etc etc
Also, what middle name would you put with it? The surname is double barrelled, each with two syllables.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] would definitely work out with your daughters’ names! It’s classic like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] but has a spunk that works well with [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]. All three names are bright with a little edge to them.
There are so many names to pair it with! You could pair it with a name like [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] and [name_f]Nina[/name_f] becomes very elegant. Another option would be something like [name_u]Fallon[/name_u], and it balances the femininity of [name_f]Nina[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is lovely! I find it sweet and erm, softly sassy if that makes any sense?! There are two well known British journalists who present th evening news, so [name_f]Nina[/name_f] makes me think of an articulate, educated woman, if I have to pick an association. It’s also a playful name though! I think [name_f]Nina[/name_f] would be fun!
I think you could put a one or 3+ syllable middle to break up the 2 syllable pattern of [name_f]Nina[/name_f] and your double barreled last names.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (sorry if you find it a filler name, I adore Rose!)
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
Would [name_f]Nina[/name_f] as a nickname, with an official/longer name that you prefer, be an option to give both you and your husband a name that you both love?
I LOVE [name_f]Nina[/name_f]! I used to not like it because the only [name_f]Nina[/name_f] I knew was a bit rude and stand-offish in school, but I came to love because of a fictional character (she’s also my profile picture). She’s so confident, loud and unapologetic about it, and at the same time so caring and loyal. So that’s how I imagine Nina’s to be now.
I love it! I can see it on a young girl/old lady, it ages well and is very versatile. It’s cool and sparkly, sophisticated, international and not overused.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] is lovely - I find it such a bright, sweet name, but one that could also be studious and serious. It’s familiar but not overused.
I can completely understand why your husband loves [name_f]Nina[/name_f] she’s gorgeous.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] is such a pretty timeless name she’s sweet, classic, universal, sophisticated and works wonderfully with your girls names. [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is just so simple yet unexpected she just deserves more attention. I think ballerinas, European royalty, sunny days, beautiful orange groves and pretty lemon trees. Middle name wise I would probably go with something with a whimsical flair to marry up with [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] feels stylistically similar to [name_f]Nina[/name_f]. Maybe [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] or [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Boheme[/name_f]?
Nina seems more like nickname to me. If you don’t love it, you could suggest these and use Nina as a nickname
Seraphina
Sophina
Zenina
Vevina
Ursulina
names that end in -ina basically
You could also invent a name with Nina in it. Invented names that I know of (Come from Stories I have read) that fit are Seinina and Nainina. The SEI and NAI are pronounced like Hey.
But if you don’t want either of those then here is what I imagine when I think of Nina. I imagine and older Lady who is very at peace. She is elegant and very pretty. She is outgoing and fun to be around.
Of course, you could always use Nina as a middle name! Since it’s short It might be easier to think of combos.
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband asked to name our first child, basically in exchange for not naming the rest. I was not happy with his choice. However, I chose a nickname that I adore and suits my now biggest man wonderfully.
I think [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is beautiful. Makes me think of jazz music.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] just makes me think of flowers and happiness and sunshine. I love it. Maybe you would prefer it as a nickname? [name_u]Antonia[/name_u] or Karenina or something?
I know someone named [name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] which is cute.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] is awesome! It’s very sweet and feminine, which I love, but is also strong & independent. I don’t necessarily associate it with any specific characters/people. I love it’s versatility and think it goes nicely with your other two!
I think [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is an amazing style choice with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] and would complete your eclectic but balanced sibset perfectly! I love how international [name_f]Nina[/name_f] is–a [name_f]Nina[/name_f] could travel anywhere in the world without explanation or pronunciation difficulties. [name_f]Nina[/name_f] as a name sounds jazzy, efficient, competent and commanding to me. Definitely a boss lady name. There’s a sharpness to its N sounds but a bit of sly fun in the repetition. I’m now talking myself into the many merits of [name_f]Nina[/name_f] and will probably be adding it to my own list shortly!
I might be showing my age, but [name_f]Nina[/name_f] always makes me think of the Father of the [name_f]Bride[/name_f] movies with [name_m]Steve[/name_m] [name_m]Martin[/name_m] and [name_f]Diane[/name_f] [name_u]Keaton[/name_u] (who plays Nina). She’s a likable character with a good head on her shoulders, so it’s a positive association.
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] is a simple, practical, and stylish kind of name. It’s classy! [name_m]Easy[/name_m] to spell, easy to say, and had some international appeal as well.
