Help me love Ronan🪓

I knew boy throughout elementary, middle, and high school with this name and remember thinking it was so cool. When we were a little older, he got a little more… let’s say, icky. I didn’t like him so much. But I haven’t known him for going on five years now, and I want to love his pretty name again!

So, any Ronan lovers out there, what sells you on this name? Any associations, nicknames, pieces of imagery, or love stories that I can replace that old boy from my youth with?

Thank you to all! x

[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is handsome and gentle, a little rugged round the edges and gives me images of rivers, rocky climbs and hiking

I think of [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], so all positive for me! I think it is outdoorsy, yet very polished and refined. I love the nickname [name_f]Ro[/name_f], as well!

I like [name_m]Ronan[/name_m].
It’s not super popular and a bit of a fresh take on all the [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] variations out there. It feels outdoorsy and fresh to me.

There’s the [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] [name_m]Swift[/name_m] song, although that’s very sad and might not actually be helpful in terms of loving the name and wanting to use it for a baby… Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful lol

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love [name_m]Ronan[/name_m]! I feel like it’s a great balance of strong but kind. With a dash of cool. The only [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] that I’ve ever known was my brother in law’s dog. And he was a dream of a dog, total sweetie pie, so it’s a great association! :dog: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you, everyone, for your kind replies! Puppies, the great and rugged outdoors, TSwizzle, the nickname ā€œRo,ā€ and miss [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] are all glorious [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] images. I’m loving this picture! Feeling that [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] magic! :seedling: :sparkles:

[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is easily my favorite boy name! I like that it sounds strong with the double n, but retains a hint of softness with the R. I associate it with the ocean bc of its meaning (little seal - how adorable is that??) as well as one of my favorite characters from The [name_u]Raven[/name_u] Cycle series by [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] Stiefvater. I have synesthesia, so to me it’s a really pretty garnet-red color.

I also like that it’s familiar but not overly popular like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. For some reason I’ve never liked [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - i think it might be the ā€œwā€ being too orange and throwing off the color vibes, plus it’s a little too soft sounding for me - so [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is a great alternative for that name as well.

I love the ocean! And seals! And books! This is so fabulous… thanks so much for your insight. I also think your description of [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] as too orange with that W is really powerful—that totally makes sense to me, and I’ve loved reading it. A garnet red name set against the cool waves of the sea and tans of the sand… it’s beautiful. I think you may have sold me… :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I love the meaning of the name, little seal. I just picture a cute little boy splashing in tide pools but it also has a little roughness or sturdiness to it that makes me think that the cute little boy would grow up to be a strong, capable man.

It means ā€˜little seal’, so I associate it with the ocean, the rocky shorelines, and the smell of the sea.
