Help me with middle names for Beatrix or Beatrice

Hi Berries!

Coming back around for some more super helpful and wonderful advice
Due with my third in January. It’s a girl and we’ve landed (for now) on Beatrix or Beatrice (I prefer -x, husband prefers -ce). But I’m stumbling hugely over middle names. With my first two I had very eureka moments with their names—I just loved the look and sound and rhythm and I knew. I want this one to flow well, have nice rhythm, match the tone of my two older kids names and also have some significance to us. And I just can’t find the right flow. It’s making me second guess whether Beatrix/ce is really the best name or if I need to keep looking? Anyway we do a double barrel middle name (a tradition I’d like to continue).

My two olders:
Cecily Frances March
Jasper John Elliot

New baby:
Beatrix
Beatrice
??

Middles I’ve had on the list:
Marie (family name)
Marguerite (family name)
Therese (family name)
Alice
Rose
Lily (she was conceived on Easter)
Snow (family name)
Catherine
Elizabeth
Evelyn (family name)

Some other tidbits: I like French names. My husband and I met in the Middle East so Arabic and Hebrew names also appeal. For first names I tend to go for names grounded in history/literature that are classic adjacent and not overused.

Should I abandon ship on the double barrel middle?? Part of me thinks Beatrix is just too clunky for it… Should I consider other first names? Tabitha was also on our list.

Any advice or suggestions hugely appreciated. Thank you, berries!

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is gorgeous and I would hold onto her. It’s much more important to have the first name you adore than move on just for flow. You will find the perfect one! I like, really like, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Snow[/name_u] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

Before I saw the above commenter, I was also going to say [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]! (I slightly prefer the -ce ending)

Two shorter middles to balance the three-syllable first!

I personally prefer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is still beautiful as well! I think either is fine with the double middle name!

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is my favorite middle for girls- so I might be a bit biased but here’s some combos I like:

Beatrix/ce [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
Beatrix/ce [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] (Could also do one middle here and do [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] or Rosemary?)
Beatrix/ce [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

Also since you said that Hebrew names might appeal, I love [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as a middle! Beatrix/ce [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] sounds nice to me.

Best of luck!

[name_u]Ivy[/name_u] has always been my favorite middle to pair with Beatrice/Beatrix, and it seems in line with your current list of possibilities. I’ll echo previous posters and say that I love [name_f]Lily[/name_f] with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], too.

I think [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is striking with [name_f]Bea[/name_f] and could honor [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. Similarly, [name_f]Tess[/name_f] for [name_f]Therese[/name_f] or [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] for [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]?

I adore the name [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] !! ( And [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] but [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] spelling has sentimental value to me) . It is on my list so I have a couple pairings I love

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Annalise[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]

From your combos I love the flow of

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_u]Snow[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f]

I actually think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] sounds a bit better with [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]. I love the repeated soft c/s sound. But either work!

Thanks everyone for the super helpful replies! It’s such a fun process but also sooooo hard, too. And I feel like it gets harder with each subsequent kid bc you’re not starting with a clean slate. Anyway so much to mull over

I think there are some good double middle options that arent too heavy with [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Snow[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Snow[/name_u]

You have to use [name_u]Snow[/name_u], so beautiful haha

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]Snow[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_u]Snow[/name_u]

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] (because [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] means Lily)
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_u]Snow[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Therese[/name_f]

Wow! You have great taste!

I do slightly prefer [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] in your case, simply because I could imagine saying the sisters names together frequently and “Beatrice and Cecily” gets a little hard to say with the s sounds flowing into each other… However, you could just say “Cecily & Beatrice”, as you might do anyway since [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is older, and that isn’t as hard to do.

I really love the idea of [name_u]Snow[/name_u] at her second middle name, since she’s due in winter and it’s a family name and it seems to coincide with Cecily’s [name_u]March[/name_u] quite nicely! Maybe [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Snow[/name_u]?

Ooh good point about the repetition of the “s” sound… that definitely does kind of bug me and is maybe the underlying reason I’ve been leaning toward Beatrix vs Beatrice.

I share everyone else’s love of Snow! I’m worried my husband will dismiss it as too whimsical though…

I miiiiiiight be leaning toward:

Beatrix Lillian Marie

Thoughts welcome!!
