Any other suggestions?
Sol and Cora fit really well with the style you seem to be after. Although probably a great deal too much for you, I thought I’d toss in Sóllilja (soul-il-yah) and Solveig (sool-VYE) as suggestions for a lengthier Sol variation.
Elka, Quinn, Luna, Wren and Vega (VAY-gah) would fit with Sol and Cora well in my book.
- As for beach-inspired names from association and meaning, what about Nila [“blue”], Naida/Naia [“water nymph”], Morgana [“sea-dweller”], Tallulah [“leaping water”], Darya [“sea”], Océane, Aura [“air; breeze; wind”], Meri [“the sea”] and Riva [“shore”].
* Loose meanings, that I do in no way claim to be perfect.
You [name]DO[/name] realize that “[name]Sol[/name]” is the Spanish word for sun, don’t you?
First thing that comes to mind when you say surfer girl is [name]Roxi[/name]/[name]Roxie[/name]/[name]Roxy[/name] (or however you would want to spell it.) I guess it could be short for [name]Roxanne[/name] too if you wanted something that could also be a stylish name as she ages.
[name]Don[/name]'t forget [name]Sol[/name] is also Spanish for sun. Maybe that’s why it seems like a good ocean name. I like it by itself, but I’m not fond of nn- so maybe not the best one to weigh in on that.
Other [name]Sol[/name]-type, surfer girl names-

[name]Solome[/name]
[name]Solene[/name]
[name]Sunny[/name] (nn [name]Sol[/name])

I love the suggestion of [name]Hali[/name] (meaning the sea) perhaps spelled [name]Hallie[/name]?
[name]Laney[/name]
[name]Naia[/name] (water nymphs)
[name]Nila[/name] (sea)
I know there are repeats but I thought these would fit really well!
[name]Love[/name] [name]Soleil[/name] but think about [name]Marigold[/name]…nn [name]Goldie[/name]
[name]Isolde[/name] has always been a favorite name of mine
Solara…
Is this too literal? [name]Marin[/name].
I think that [name]Sol[/name] is unique and fun. It does feel as if there’s something missing, though. Maybe you’ll like:
[name]Solene[/name]
Isolina
[name]Solina[/name] (I have to admit I made that one up)
I don’t really see [name]Cora[/name] as a surfer name.
Why not just use Nalu?
The names below have water/sea/wave meanings:
[name]Dylan[/name]
[name]Ondine[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name]
The names below just feel surfer to me:
[name]Perry[/name] (super cute on a girl - maybe short for [name]Persephone[/name]? Or on its own?)
[name]Lux[/name]
[name]Star[/name]
[name]Darcy[/name]
[name]Summer[/name] immediately came to mind. NN ‘Sum’
I think I have it! Solara is the name! [name]One[/name] of the reasons that I like it is that I love the name [name]Lara[/name] so your little [name]Sol[/name] would be [name]Lara[/name] for me.
Otherwise think of things that remind you of nature or the sea.
I think [name]Eve[/name] would be great for a surfer girl and
[name]Aurora[/name] nn of [name]Rory[/name] she is an outdoorsy cheeky girl
[name]Bree[/name] I won’t suggest [name]Breeze[/name] as I think that is too cheesy but [name]Bree[/name] makes a good compromise.
[name]Lainy[/name]
[name]Ray[/name]/[name]Rae[/name] connected the sun’s rays, also like suggestion of [name]Raina[/name] but that makes me think of rain which is not ideal when you are enjoying a day at the beach.
[name]Shelley[/name] thinking of the shells you can collect on the beach
[name]Melody[/name] the music of the sea
[name]Marissa[/name]
[name]Perle[/name]/[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Patty[/name]/[name]Patsy[/name]/[name]Patricia[/name]
[name]Oceane[/name]
[name]Oriana[/name]
[name]Layne[/name]? [name]Layne[/name] Beachley is an Australian surfing champion.
Growing up in a surfing community, these are some of the names that always stuck for me as a beachy, surfy, wave-loving seaside girls names are:
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Temple[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Alana[/name]
[name]Ainsley[/name]
[name]Hayley[/name]
Teneille
[name]Kayla[/name]
[name]Brianna[/name]
[name]Ashleigh[/name]
[name]Jasmine[/name]
I think just something fun and simple, maybe that’s a little bit cool and not sickly feminine.
hey there…
suggestion (if you’re open to a different sound)… malia. since researching this name ad nauseum for my own daughter, the best translation i’ve heard (which came straight from several different local women in hawaii) means “the state of water when it is calm”. its a name i came across several years ago, belonging to malia jones, who happens to be a professional surfer cum sports model. she caught my eye as so incredibly exotic, as she is of polynesian heritage. she embodied everything i wanted for my own daughter, which is why i chose the name for her. as a post script, we also call her mia or mali (ma-[name]LEE[/name]) for short. mali also means “sweet” in thai. so she has her choice of names to go by if she should grow weary and be in need of a “nameover”. many blessings and waves…
Oh, you’ve reminded me, littlefish…the name Asherah means “walks in water” or something like that.
I love [name]Sol[/name] on it’s own. You could do a double first name, like [name]Sol[/name] [name]Elise[/name] or [name]Makani[/name] [name]Sol[/name]
[QUOTE=bostonsavvy;1453335
We also like [name]Makani[/name] which is Hawaiian and means wind. I love Kainalu which means wave rider but he says it doesn’t flow and doesn’t like the nickname [name]Kai[/name].
)[/QUOTE]
Kainalu is so cute, nn could be [name]Kaia[/name], Nalu, [name]Lulu[/name], or [name]Nala[/name]
Kamalei is one of my favorites. I like [name]Kam[/name]/[name]Cam[/name], [name]Mali[/name], or [name]Leila[/name] as nn
Kolohe- I prefer it on boys but it’s unisex. I’d call a boy Kol, Lohe, or Koli “col-ee”. I’d call a girl Kola, Lo, or [name]Lola[/name]
[name]Makai[/name]- prefer on boys but unisex
[name]Malia[/name]
Keala
Moana
[name]Nani[/name]
