HELP! Name needed ASAP

Hey everyone!

We are getting so close to meeting our baby girl (tomorrow is my due date!) but we are still not 100% clear on what name we want to pick.

My husband and I both [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the name [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], but I am having a really hard time thinking of it as a first name. I can’t get past the “As” beginning… that and the nickname “Asp”. Am I being too picky? Are there other nicknames you can think of? My name is [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] and I heard the “a**” thing sooo many times when I was a kid… it never really bothered me. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it is an issue?

The other problem is that our first name choices are [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. We both prefer [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], but since we want [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] somewhere, it doesn’t seem to flow very nicely… [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]. [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] flows better but [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is just so darn popular.

Help! Advice?

Maybe [name_m]Penn[/name_m] could be a nickname for [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]? Otherwise you could give her a nickname unrelated to her actual name. That often happens naturally anyway. I don’t think the ‘As’ beginning is a problem, you’re probably just over-thinking it.

If [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is too popular, maybe you would like an alternative like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]? I think [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] is lovely.

If you decide to go with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], which is very cute, you could use two middles to make it flow better with [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], e.g. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u].

[name_m]Penn[/name_m] or [name_u]Penny[/name_u] would make a cute nickname for [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]! Although, I prefer it as a middle name myself.

Some suggestions:
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] ([name_f]Love[/name_f] this suggestion from princessariel!)
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]/[name_u]Emory[/name_u] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Breanna[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Savannah[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]

I tried to fight for [name_u]Brinley[/name_u] (or alternate spelling) [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], but hubby doesn’t like it.

Talk to me about this two middles… I like the idea, but [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] isn’t my favourite.

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] (middle) [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]… Go!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], but agree that [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] sounds…well it just doesn’t flow very well.
what about:
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Elisia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Calista[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]

Obviously I feel like [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] should be bridged with a very feminine name to balance out the lack of frill in both names.
Also, just to throw this out there, I went to school with a girl named [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] who, to my knowledge, never got made fun of or taunted for the ‘Ass’ thing, plus little kids will likely find taunting material in any name. So my opinion would be to just go with the name you love. I think that [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] is a lovely name and that [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is the most adorable and unexpected nickname

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Hubby vetoed the two middles. [name_m]How[/name_m] about middles for[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]? Nothing too flowery please

[name_f]Bria[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Cambria[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_u]Rue[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Liesl[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Neve[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Reverie[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Zephyrine[/name_f]

Asp is a type of viper, so that makes me want to steer away from that as a nickname. I do think [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is adorable and very workable. That said, I too have the same issue with names that start with this particular sound.

I really love the name [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. I think a more grounded, traditional middle name will work best between [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]…I second [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u].

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Junia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]

Would it be strange to just name her [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] without a middle? I feel like I just can’t come up with something to go with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] that I really like… and I really love [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]!

Also, here are a few combos the hubby and I are throwing around tonight… thoughts?
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] (still)
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (my mom’s name is [name_f]Margaret[/name_f])
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Brie[/name_f]
Brynn Ainsley

This is so much harder than I thought it would be! :???:

Today is the day! Any other suggestions?

Oh I love [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u]! [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is perfect.

I think [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Leah[/name_f] (lee-ya) balances well.

Keep us posted!

Part of the flow depends on what your last name, but something melodic would be nice with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]:
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (or [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f])
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]

Of your [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] combos, I like [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] the best - and it’s a great bonus that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is a family name! [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] sounds nice too - with nicknames like [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Meg[/name_f] … [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is an easy family name to re-use because it’s so easy to come up with a nickname other than the one the older [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] uses. I also like [name_f]Briony[/name_f] with your name choices - [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] and [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] are sweet.

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] isn’t half bad, either!

GOOD [name_m]LUCK[/name_m]!!

Stick with [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]. You’ve liked it for so long.

[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Elaina[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]

I love [name_m]Penn[/name_m] or [name_u]Penny[/name_u] as a nickname. I think you’re overthinking the a** thing.

Best of luck.

Have you considered the name bronwyn? It’s a strong name that almost combines your two favorites - [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]. I love the feel of aspen but prefer it as a middle since I think first names should fit both a future judge or future artist. I do however love slightly eccentric middle names!

Another similar name to aspen in sound and feel that I love is arden.

Here are some ideas…

[name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]

[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is lovely. Have you considered [name_f]Brenna[/name_f]? It would be so much easier to find a middle for. If not, how about:

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Samantha[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]

Sorry to keep bothering everyone! I’m officially overdue, but maybe that’s a good thing because we still haven’t settled on a name!

Here are some combos we both like:
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]
Brynley [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]

My personal favourites are the first too, although I’m not sure I’m in [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] with Brynley… I really want [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], and that’s a way we thought we could have both.

More thoughts?

I would name her [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] ___
Have you considered [name_f]Brynna[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]? Nickname “[name_u]Bryn[/name_u]…”
It flows, and combines the feeling of [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and Brynley.
Another name I think you may like is [name_f]Briony[/name_f] [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]… nn “[name_u]Bryn[/name_u]”

Or save one name for a future daughter!
