I dont mind human names on dogs. Corgis are very happy and have bubbley outgoing personalities. They are basically just little goof balls. So I dont want anything that is too serious. I also dont want anything too predictable like [name]Max[/name] or [name]Rufus[/name].
Hey! I love Corgis! [name]Roscoe[/name] is my favorite off your list, but I always said if I got a Welsh Corgi I’d name him [name]Dewey[/name] ([name]Dewi[/name]), a Welsh diminutive of [name]Dafydd[/name] ([name]David[/name]) that means “beloved.” The name seems very Corgi-like to me. Good luck!
Oh, what an adorable dog! Congrats My favorite is definitely [name]Roscoe[/name]: which really calls to mind the description you gave.
Other ideas:
[name]Rocco[/name]
[name]Beau[/name]/[name]Bo[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name] nn [name]Danny[/name]
[name]Raphael[/name] nn [name]Rafe[/name] (I love the nn [name]Rafe[/name] for a dog!)
[name]Jasper[/name] nn [name]Jazz[/name]/[name]Jazzy[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name] nn [name]Dash[/name] (or just [name]Dash[/name] by itself)
[name]Otis[/name]
[name]Blake[/name]
I always thought it would be funny to name a pet a really humanish name, like [name]Bob[/name], [name]Jim[/name], [name]Judith[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Mark[/name], or [name]Patricia[/name]…
While [name]Oliver[/name] is lovely, I think [name]Roscoe[/name] is a better name for a doggie. I have read a few articles that say you should limit dog names to 2 syllabels and include a hard consonant sound like T, D or K, to make it easier for your pet to recongnize their name. [name]Roscoe[/name] is only 2 syllabels and has the K sound in it. [name]Roscoe[/name] is also a little quirky, which I personally love for pet names.
I really like [name]Dexter[/name]. For some reason I personally like [name]Roscoe[/name] better for a dog. That being said, [name]Dexter[/name] lends itself to a nice short nicname of [name]Dex[/name] if you want which still includes the hard consonant, where as [name]Ros[/name] for [name]Roscoe[/name] does not. Either would work great.
I love corgis. I had a Corgi-mix for about 10 years named [name]Zoe[/name] (which I gave to her at the age of 3, I was well beyond the times… Lol) and it fit her perfectly. Corgis are quirky dogs that need quirky names.
I love [name]Harvey[/name] for a Corgi, but [name]Roscoe[/name] seems to fit better to me. I’m not crazy about [name]Louie[/name], it just doesn’t work for a Corgi.
Some suggestions:
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Dewey[/name] (a little quirkier than [name]Louie[/name])
[name]Kirby[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Chester[/name]
[name]Cooper[/name]
[name]Winston[/name]
My top 3 would be, in no particular order:
[name]Roscoe[/name], [name]Winston[/name], and [name]Chester[/name] ([name]Arthur[/name] is close too)
I always say my next dog will be [name]Dexter[/name] (love [name]Dex[/name]!) Or [name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Theo[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name] are so cute!)
[name]Zoe[/name] was actually one the names I was considering if we got a girl. It is a perfect name for a corgi.
You are right about them needing spunky names. [name]Cooper[/name] is already on our list. My sisters dogs are [name]Colby[/name] and [name]Callie[/name] and I really wasnt wanting another C name. [name]Winston[/name] is very intriguing! I think I’ll add that to the list. I love [name]Rory[/name], but I already have a cat with that name.
My sister got two corgis last year and they are so awesome. [name]Ive[/name] been counting down the days until we could get one
(had to move first) so I am super excited! Thanks for the suggestions.
