Hello! Due in 3 weeks and the baby’s gender is a surprise. We’re trying to narrow down our girl list. Our daughter has a gender-neutral/boyish name and we’re not sure if we should stick with the gender-neutral or if a feminine name is ok?
I really like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] as well!
I think I’d probably stick with the more gender neutral names for girls if your first daughter has one. Although that’s just a personal preference and if you fall for a more feminine name, then just go for what you love!
I think [name_u]Piper[/name_u] would fit well since it’s very in between. It’s not too gender neutral but it’s not frilly either
I like [name_u]Laine[/name_u] from your list as a first name. It’s gender neutral, but doesn’t feel like a boy name. It feels like it actually works for a boy or a girl. Although I’d spell it [name_u]Lane[/name_u] for a boy. [name_u]Laine[/name_u] feels sleek & polished & simple & has the adorable nn of [name_f]Lainey[/name_f].
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] is just not my cup of tea. Most people seem to like it, but it just doesn’t have a pleasant sound in my opinion as a name. [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] sounds fun, but it’s just too cutesy & over done. I’d at least do [name_f]Grace[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gracie[/name_f].
A few more ideas that you may like…
[name_u]Briar[/name_u]
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_u]Bryn[/name_u]
[name_u]Haley[/name_u]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
Kit-I prefer it as a nick-name, but if you’re looking for more unisex full names, it’s probably fine on its own.
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
Penny…or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u]
[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Thanks for your insight and other name suggestions. I do like [name_u]Haley[/name_u], and also [name_f]Hallie[/name_f]. I was in the same boat with the name [name_u]Piper[/name_u] during my first pregnancy, there was something that I just didn’t love about it. But it has been growing on me slowly
But I do love [name_u]Laine[/name_u] for a girl too. I loved it as a middle, but it’s really growing on me as a first name!
I really like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_u]Laine[/name_u]! [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] sounds nice as well, but I prefer [name_u]Piper[/name_u] in general and with a gender-neutral sibling name (though I don’t think you need to stick with gender-neutral, whatever your heart wants!)
