Help or suggestions on spelling

So, hubby just said the name Auryn is out:( It looks like Westyn and Kayce are the final two. I just REALLY don’t want a common spelling for Westyn (Weston/Westin/Westen), that’s why I threw the Y in there. Also, we decided Kayce (pronounced as Kaycee) is going to be spelled as Kayce even if it gets pronounced as “Kace”. My husband is a big Yellowstone fan and loves the spelling of that character from the show.

Thoughts?? Thoughts on the spelling of Westyn? I know it can be taken as a feminine spelling, but I THINK I’m ok with that. Honest opinions please?

I think the [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] spelling is nice and I really like it! Would you consider the spelling [name_u]Kacy[/name_u] or [name_u]Kacey[/name_u] instead of [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] though? I would definitely intuitively pronounce that [name_u]Kace[/name_u] but if you all don’t mind then go for it :). [name_u]Love[/name_u] the name either way

Thanks! I did mention to my husband how the name [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] would be pronounced as [name_u]Kace[/name_u] by some, but he insisted on keeping [name_u]Kayce[/name_u]. Big Yellowstone fan lol. To be honest, we would probably call him “Kace” for short anyways, so maybe it wouldn’t be too much of an annoyance for us.

I don’t really see the point of the [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] spelling. To me, those alternative spellings are a bit downmarket. But obviously, it’s just my opinion.

For myself, the point is to not have a common spelling. I usually stray from common names to begin with, but I feel that [name_m]Weston[/name_m] is pretty common. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I both agree on this name, so now it’s a matter of making the spelling of it not so common at the very least.

I’m enjoying [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] today!! I quite like this spelling

[name_m]Westyn[/name_m] is a good choice too; the y works for me

You can’t go wrong but I would like to meet a [name_u]Kayce[/name_u]!

Really like [name_u]Kayce[/name_u]! [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] just makes me think western but its ok. I love just [name_m]Wes[/name_m] though!

Kayce would definitely be mispronounced as case (as in a “case of beer”) at times. Weston doesn’t seem particularly common, personally I’d describe it as a quite unusual name, though fine. I don’t think it’s a good idea, or the child would appreciate spelling it Westyn (“with a y”) for the rest of his life. If you’re open to any other suggestions, I think Bryce is cool and very uncommon though recognisable. Bryce - Baby Name Meaning, Origin, and Popularity | Nameberry

Great feedback from everyone! Thats what I was looking for, thank you!

I think [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] is fine, [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] I’m not so sure about, the pronunciation could be confusing, so I’d rather go with [name_f]Kaycee[/name_f]. Also, this is probably just me but I misread it as [name_m]Kanye[/name_m] at fist

[name_m]Westyn[/name_m] and [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] are great names. I get a very southern vibe from them !

Personally,as a person who has to clarify the spelling and pronunciation of my name frequently, I am a big fan of the traditional spellings of names. How ever that’s my opinion based on my personal experiences

Congratulations on narrowing down a top 2 !!

I dislike changing spellings to add Y. Much prefer [name_m]Weston[/name_m], seems more masculine. I would also pronounce the other name as [name_u]Kace[/name_u] like [name_m]Case[/name_m] with out a second thought.

I think I actually prefer [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] to [name_m]Weston[/name_m]! I do agree that [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] would frequently be mispronounced.

I love [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] spelled [name_u]Kayce[/name_u].
I also like all [name_m]Wes[/name_m] names but there are a lot of them popular right now and I think [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] would stand out a little more!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite out of the two is [name_m]Westyn[/name_m]. I agree that the “y” makes it look more feminine but if it doesn’t bother you, then go for it. [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] is a great guy name, I know two Westons and I always loved the name.

I don’t understand how changing the spelling of a common name makes it unique, especially when it’s still pronounced the same. [name_u]Kayce[/name_u] pronounced as [name_u]Casey[/name_u] seems like it would be a headache and a hassle. Your child will eventually have to deal with the issues of either name. [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] is the least worst of the two.

We dont want the sound to be different, so we’re ok that it still sounds like “Casey”. The spelling I would like to be different or unique because thats what we look at. There’s multiple ways to spell a name so I prefer a less common one.
