We love old fashioned names that are a little bit edgy sounding…anyone got some ideas/inspiration for a wee brother or sister to [name_f]Millie[/name_f]?! Here’s what we’ve got so far… (Our last name is [name_m]Brown[/name_m] too so that rules out some names).
I don’t know why but my first thought was [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] “[name_m]Archie[/name_m]”
…[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] and [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] flows rather well imo (although I wouldn’t typically like [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] myself)
And first thought for a girl was [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] “[name_f]Adele[/name_f]” (I know this is in the boys forum, but I’ll add girls suggestions in too)
Other suggestions:
[name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] “[name_m]Zeke[/name_m]”
[name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] “[name_m]Morty[/name_m]” or “[name_u]Cai[/name_u]/[name_u]Kai[/name_u]”
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] “[name_u]Beau[/name_u]”
[name_m]Donovan[/name_m] “[name_u]Van[/name_u]”
[name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] “[name_u]Perry[/name_u]”
[name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] “[name_u]Dash[/name_u]”
[name_m]Castiel[/name_m] “[name_m]Cas[/name_m]”
As you can see I like longer, somewhat extravagant, relatively uncommon names with simple nicknames to fit in with [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] "[name_f]Millie[/name_f]"s vibe
I like Millicent with Rufus and Arthur from your list.
What about:
Leopold “Leo”
Conrad “Con”
Wallace “Wally”
Ernest “Ernie”
Bernard “Bernie”
Nicholas “Nick, Nico”
Oswald “Ozzy”
Cornelius “Cory”
Norbert “Bertie, Norris”
Walter “Walt, Wally”
Louis
Henry
Theodore “Theo, Teddy”
Julius “Jules”
Harold “Harry”
Clifford “Cliff”
My picks are [name_m]Angus[/name_m]/[name_u]Gus[/name_u] and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]/[name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. From your list I like [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Rocco[/name_m], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] is pretty popular now so has a lot less edge than [name_f]Millicent[/name_f].
I like all the names on your list except for [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] which I don’t hate but find a bit plain or common next to [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]. I think the previous suggestion of [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] goes very well with [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_m]Archie[/name_m] sound super cute to me.
As soon as I read [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] I immediately thought [name_u]August[/name_u]! [name_f]Millie[/name_f] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u] is adorable!!
For girls I had no big AHH-ha moment
But a few came to mind
