Im really struggling on names for our boy/girl twins. We love the name Athea for a girl and we thought we were set on the name [name_m]Theon[/name_m] for a boy which we also love but now after seeing a few comments online i dont know if they are too similar [name_f][/name_f] we already have 3 children who all have one syllable names (this wasnt intentional just loved the names) and im not sure if we should stick with one syllables. Choosing baby names is so hard!!!
I think you donât have to worry about the one syllable names⊠as long as both twins have a name with more than one syllable, so neither is the âodd one outâ of the siblings.
[name_f][/name_f]Athea and [name_m]Theon[/name_m] are not âtoo similarâ in terms of being constantly mixed up with each other, the sounds are different enough for that. Some people might be bothered that theyâre probably similar in root/meaning/middle sounds as theyâre both Theo/Thea names. But if that doesnât bother YOU, I think itâs fine. Iâve known siblings with much matchier names (rhyming names, 3+ kids all starting with the same letter, etc) and theyâre doing fine. I donât think this is a big problem.
I agree with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], donât worry about the one syllable names! Also make sure both twins have more then one syllable, so they donât feel left out.
[name_f][/name_f]I also donât think Athea and [name_m]Theon[/name_m] are to similar. I also think the [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_m]Theo[/name_m] connection is kind of cute!
I donât think you need to stick to one syllable names! Especially if youâre looking to move away from this for both twins and there arenât any your loving.
[name_f][/name_f]I personally find [name_m]Theon[/name_m] and Athea a little too similar for my tastes [name_f][/name_f]- itâs the [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_m]Theo[/name_m] sounds [name_f][/name_f]- however, I donât find them unusably close or totally confusing: the -n and A- do break them up a bit.
[name_f][/name_f]You could consider something similar like:
[name_f][/name_f]Athea and [name_m]Theoden[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Athea and [name_m]Riordan[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Athea and [name_m]Xavion[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Athea and Kreon
Ooh, Athea and [name_m]Theon[/name_m] are both lovely but I do think theyâre too similar. What aboutâŠ
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Althea[/name_f], [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Anthea[/name_f], [name_f]Athalia[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]or
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Thoren[/name_m], [name_m]Actaeon[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Orfeo[/name_m]?
[name_f][/name_f]As for syllables, I think as long as you donât have one twin with a single syllable and the other more, itâs fine to break the pattern!
Athea is lovely! I donât think you need to have 1 syllable necessarilyâŠespecially if both twins donât.
I do think they are a tad similar, however, but if thatâs what you want to name them, do it.
A few suggestions (preserving the Th- initial):
Athea & Thackery
Athea & Thaddeus
Athea & Thorold
Athea & Thatcher
(A initial)
Athea & Ansel
Athea & Alistair
Athea & Atticus
Athea & Alaric
A few others that vibe IMO:
Athea & Soren
Athea & Vero (this is probably my favorite)
Athea & Orion
Athea & Lorcan
If youâre not 100% might I suggest
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Teddy[/name_m] & [name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Zion[/name_m] & [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
Athea and [name_m]Theon[/name_m] are both beautiful names, but I can see why youâre questioning if they might sound a little too similar, especially said together often. They share that soft âtheeâ sound and similar rhythm, which could make them feel a bit like a pair rather than two distinct individuals.
[name_f][/name_f]Instead of [name_m]Theon[/name_m] you could do [name_m]Theron[/name_m] or [name_m]Leon[/name_m]. [name_m]Or[/name_m] instead of Athea, you could do [name_f]Athena[/name_f] or [name_f]Aretha[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]However, like others have said, Athea and [name_m]Theon[/name_m] could still work in a cute kinda matchy way!
Congratulations! Twins would be so exciting [name_f][/name_f]!
[name_f][/name_f]I do think Athea and [name_m]Theon[/name_m] while adorable are too similar for my taste. Iâm just thinking when they are school age and the nicknames start. But Athea and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or Athea and Therron would work [name_f][/name_f]!
[name_f][/name_f]I donât think you need to stick to one syllable names either
Congratulations!
[name_f][/name_f]I think you do not need to continue the one syllable theme so I would not worry about that at all.
[name_f][/name_f]Athea + [name_m]Theon[/name_m] do feel similar in my opinion if it was me I would stick with [name_m]Theon[/name_m] and maybe change up a Athea to [name_f]Athena[/name_f] or [name_f]Althea[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
I wouldnât worry about one syllable vs more. But I do find Athea and [name_m]Theon[/name_m] too close.
[name_f][/name_f]I wonder about something like:
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Theon[/name_m] & [name_f]Alina[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Theon[/name_m] & [name_f]Aviva[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Theon[/name_m] & [name_f]Alea[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Leon[/name_m] & Athea
Athea makes me think of Atheist. [name_m]Theon[/name_m] is okay, but the connection to Game of Thrones might be an interesting one.
