Help Us Decide ❤️

I like your choices! I think I’m rooting for [name_f]Calla[/name_f], with [name_f]Ada[/name_f] as a runner up. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] definitely matches your description the very best, but I notice that you say you’ve never been able to commit despite it seeming perfect on paper. That is true of some of my favorite names, as well, and I think sometimes we end up feeling like we should love a certain name more than we actually do. Maybe not the case for you, but I just say trust your gut.

[name_f]Calla[/name_f] is unexpected and beautiful. I think she is both spunky and sophisticated like you said. I also like the repeating L sound with [name_m]Luke[/name_m].

[name_f]Colette[/name_f] is a totally different vibe for me personally - very [name_u]French[/name_u], very dainty and prim. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I also think of [name_u]Toni[/name_u] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. It’s a nice name but I don’t love it with [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and I don’t think it fits your criteria quite as well.

ada and calla are my favorites from this list! colette is pretty, just not my favorite; i say it as co-leht.

calla is my favorite as it’s so rare, but so familiar!! it has such a peaceful rhythm and lilting sound. calla morgan is so pretty!!

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] second qould be colette

I love all these names. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] is my daughter’s middle name and we do say Cuh-lette…

I would choose [name_f]Ada[/name_f] as a first choice, [name_f]Colette[/name_f] coming in second. Ada/Ida are choices I loved as well

Based on what you’ve written for each name, I like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] best for you! It seems that it’s the one you have most consistently loved. It combines the sounds and vibes of both [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f], while still being distinct and gorgeous on its own!

I love how sunny [name_f]Calla[/name_f] and [name_m]Luke[/name_m] are with each other. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is also beautiful!

[name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] are absolutely perfect together! [name_f]Ada[/name_f] matches your criteria, but is laid back enough to go with [name_m]Luke[/name_m]!

They are all lovely and my vote is a tie between [name_f]Calla[/name_f] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. [name_f]Colette[/name_f] may have the lead because it flows beautifully with your last name. For me, [name_f]Ada[/name_f] Br@dy is rhyming a bit but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker if you decide you love it the most. All the best!

Imho [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is the best fit with your description and with [name_m]Luke[/name_m]! Next would be [name_f]Colette[/name_f], because I like how it kind of inverts the consonants of Luke… L → K and then C → L.

I would go [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u]! Actually, won’t this name like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] have possible last name issues but in this case because it rhymes a lot - [name_f]Ada[/name_f] “Grady” - [name_f]Ady[/name_f] [name_u]Grady[/name_u]? (good chance she’ll get Ady?). In some ways this is what makes it cool - but it’s too close for me. With your last name, I would choose [name_f]Ida[/name_f] instead (and I’ve been crushing on that lately anyway). [name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe [name_f]Isla[/name_f] or [name_f]Thea[/name_f].

I would probably avoid [name_f]Calla[/name_f] Br@dy, for calibrate but I might be being overly cautious (it’s a lovely name!). Otherwise, [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Callista[/name_f] (nn Calla), [name_f]Milla[/name_f], [name_u]Willow[/name_u], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] or [name_f]Camellia[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Colette[/name_f] (Co-lette - but a soft and quick O so I guess closer to Caw-lette), and [name_u]Coco[/name_u] is a fab nn option. Now I think about it, it flows best with your last name of the three. It’s not my fave French-Latin name (I prefer [name_u]Celeste[/name_u], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] or Cecile) but it is definitely very commanding and pretty! Having thought it through (lol), this would be my choice - otherwise one of the alternatives (Ida, [name_f]Callista[/name_f] etc).

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. I like the repetition of the L in [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and [name_f]Colette[/name_f]. To me it is a more substantial name than [name_f]Calla[/name_f], yet still underused and refreshingly unexpected.

I agree with a previous poster, I would almost prefer [name_f]Ida[/name_f] to [name_f]Ada[/name_f] because of the the repetition of the long A sound in the first and last name. [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] might be a consideration.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Calla[/name_f]!

Thank you everyone for your input! We are still considering these names, but [name_f]Lila[/name_f] came onto the table last night and may be our new front runner!:see_no_evil: so much to consider!

I would love Ada Colette, but I guess that combo is not an option? If not, then just Ada. Super adorable. I think vintage Christmas. I also love Ida. Is Ada-Lila Morgan too much? I think it’s very cute! Depending on your country’s name law, maybe you could also mix - Idelette is a name, so maybe Adalette

I like both [name_f]Calla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f], but [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is my favorite! It feels cohesive with [name_m]Luke[/name_m] because of the C/K sound they share. The only thing I would consider before choosing [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is that [name_f]Callie[/name_f] is a likely nickname, so if you don’t like it I would maybe go with [name_f]Ada[/name_f] instead.

I adore [name_f]Calla[/name_f]- it feels so fresh + bright, simple but very underused. The “calibrate” issue really doesn’t bother me. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] is a great combo, and I think it goes nicely with [name_m]Luke[/name_m] too! [name_m]Luke[/name_m] + [name_f]Ada[/name_f] also make a sweet pair, but I don’t think I’d like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] paired with “LN rhymes-with-Grady.” And I have the same question you have about [name_f]Colette[/name_f]: I never quite know how to pronounce it! Other than that I think it’s a lovely name, but all things considered [name_f]Calla[/name_f] easily gets my vote.

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] advice is to say them out loud. A lot. In sentences etc. I had to cross several names off my list because I loved them on paper but they sounded wrong to hilarious to me out loud. So that’s something I’d do in your situation.

Otherwise:

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] - pretty. It does combine popular sounds and she will grow up surrounded by Avas, Averys, Aylas etc., though. It wouldn’t bother me (I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] a lot) but it’s something to consider. I think of the early 1900s, old movies stars. I personally find it more old fashioned than [name_m]Luke[/name_m] but they are fine together anyway.

[name_f]Calla[/name_f] - nice meaning, but doesn’t work for me because it sounds like the word for “basement/cellar” in my native language I prefer [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f].

[name_f]Colette[/name_f] - I like this in theory, but since several people have pointed out that it sounds like cotelette I couldn’t use it anymore. I pronounce it coh-LETT.

I think I’d pick [name_f]Ada[/name_f], it’s lovely, or [name_f]Colette[/name_f] even though I wouldn’t use it myself.

Ideas:

[name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_u]Camille[/name_u]
[name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] - you could call her [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_u]Coco[/name_u]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
