My partner and I are having trouble picking out boy names. We agree on [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for a girl, so it would be ideal to come up with something similar in style for a boy. Here are some names I like and some names he likes, respectively:
I like:
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Archie[/name_m] — not a fan of [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] though…is [name_m]Archer[/name_m] too trendy?
He likes:
[name_m]Soren[/name_m] (his #1 fave) - I just can’t get behind it, it’s an okay name but seems trendy to me
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] — also okay to me, but seems a little too serious
We both like, but have issues with, [name_m]Felix[/name_m] (weird personal association), [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] (too trendy), [name_m]Louis[/name_m] (pronounced lou-ee…but worried about mispronunciation), and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] (too trendy)…
I always loved [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but never been able to get my husband to agree
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]’s pretty trendy, but honestly so is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. Both are lovely, though, and I really like them together! [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is also pretty trendy, if that’s a concern…
I wouldn’t call [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], or [name_m]Leo[/name_m] trendy, they are just popular. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] maybe though since it is an occupational name and fairly unheard of until now. What about [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] with [name_m]Archie[/name_m] as a nickname? I also like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and don’t think the pronunciation is a big deal.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] has been one of my favorite names for years. I quite like it paired with [name_m]Felix[/name_m] on my own list, but I understand about the personal association. I love [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] as well, and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] goes fantastically with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. I agree about [name_m]Soren[/name_m] sounding too trendy, and it just doesn’t seem to fit with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (not that that has to be a dealbreaker with a name if you love it enough).
Suggestions:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
Congrats, and hope you find a name you absolutely adore!
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] (and you could nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m])
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Philip[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Pip[/name_m])
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u])
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] (love!)
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] (just about!)
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] (if last kid so you’re not then hassled about E names for next one!)
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
[name_m]William[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Will[/name_m] or [name_m]Liam[/name_m])
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m] seem a bit too cute and lose some of their weight next to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], though I like both of the names. [name_m]Soren[/name_m] seems to be too different to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and the most trendy of your list. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] works and is a fave on here, but like you I find it a tad too fusty.
