I’m 18 weeks pregnant with my first, we are not finding out the sex so need a short list of favourites for both boys & girls.
DH & I are having real trouble with boys names as I have 2 that I love & he can’t find anything that jumps out at him.
Here are the names we are considering & those we like but either can’t use or aren’t head over heels with. Advice & suggestions very welcome
I’m really picky about nns, there are few that I like especially ‘common’ ones such as [name]Sam[/name], [name]Alex[/name] etc
These are my 2 faves & I’ve loved them for years.
[name]Elijah[/name] - DH likes but not in love with
[name]Jude[/name] - DH wasn’t keen at 1st but warming to it (his concern is that it’s a bit feminine)

[name]Moses[/name] - we love this but not with our ln (which ends in ‘is’)
[name]Noah[/name] - so popular here
[name]Atticus[/name] - again sounds terrible with ln

[name]Patrick[/name] - due pretty much on st [name]Patrick[/name]'s day & I have a lot of Irish family but we hate pat/paddy as nns

DH is obsessed with the name [name]Wilbur[/name]/Wilberforce - it started out a a joke when we were ttc but he now loves it even though he knows it’s off the table for lots of reasons, the main one being that it starts with the same syllable as our ln & I really don’t like that (I’ve discarded one of my fave girls names [name]Willow[/name] for that same reason)
I would quite happily go with [name]Elijah[/name] or [name]Jude[/name] so it’s hard to get excited about any names he suggests as in my head they just don’t match up to those. Help!!
I think [name]Wilbur[/name] is a really cool name, but I know what you mean (my last name starts with W as well).
[name]Jude[/name] is one of my favourite names, it’s lovely. Has your husband read [name]Jude[/name] the Obscure? Or seen the movie? ([name]Christopher[/name] Eccleston might de-feminize the name a bit.)
I also think [name]Solomon[/name] is amazing! And I like [name]Rowan[/name] and [name]Dylan[/name].
My almost brother-in-law has four sons and three of them are on your list. The fourth one’s name is [name]Reuben[/name].
Yea [name]Wilbur[/name] [name]Wil[/name]*** just doesn’t work for me. Funnily enough lots of the girls names I like start with W, we’ve kept [name]Winter[/name] on the list as the alliteration sounds quite nice with that (kinda like [name]January[/name] [name]Jones[/name]).
I have loved [name]Jude[/name] since I read [name]Jude[/name] the obscure, it’s my fave book & my Mums fave too, & I love literary names so it’s perfect for me. Maybe getting him to watch the film would be a good idea.
That’s crazy that your [name]BIL[/name]'s kids have names from our list! We did discuss [name]Reuben[/name] a whole ago actually & both quite liked it but I’ve been put off it a little (I work with pregnant women, one of them named their child this & for various reasons I’m no longer a fan)
[name]January[/name] [name]Jones[/name] has such a great name.
[name]Jude[/name] is a great name, and I don’t think it’s that feminine, I guess he thinks because it sort of sounds like [name]Judy[/name]? I’d think with [name]Jude[/name] [name]Law[/name] and Hey [name]Jude[/name] in pop culture that keeps it clearly male but anyway…

Also, you have a great list! Many of those names are ones that I love (the trouble being my l/o when I’m finally blessed will be half Korean which makes all my Irish name loves difficult)
