We are expecting a baby boy, our third and final baby. Big sisters are Ph0eb3 and Im0g3ne. We are thrilled to have a son, but boy names are hard! My husband is super picky about names.
We have had [name_m]August[/name_m] as our boys front runner for a long time, but I’m put off by how popular it has become (popularity doesn’t bother my husband at all). [name_m]The[/name_m] only other names I’ve suggested that my husband has said he doesn’t hate are [name_m]Everett[/name_m] and [name_m]Linus[/name_m].
Our last name is one syllable and ends with a soft S sound so names that end in S are out.
Congratulations! I think [name_m]August[/name_m] is one of those names that’s a really popular suggestion nowadays, but I don’t think I’ve ever met an [name_m]August[/name_m] in real life. I think you’d be safe, and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], and [name_m]August[/name_m] are really cute, as are [name_m]Everett[/name_m] and [name_m]Linus[/name_m] with your girls. [name_m]Other[/name_m] ideas …
Congratulations!! Your girls have such gorgeous names! [name_m]August[/name_m], [name_m]Everett[/name_m], and [name_m]Linus[/name_m] all give me a slightly vintage, literary, quietly handsome vibe, so I’d lean into that! How about:
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (though this one is increasing in popularity as well)
[name_m]Jude[/name_m]
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] nn [name_m]Alfie[/name_m] or [name_m]Freddy[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilfred[/name_m] nn [name_m]Will[/name_m] or [name_m]Freddy[/name_m]
[name_m]Rupert[/name_m]
[name_m]Sullivan[/name_m]
[name_m]Emmett[/name_m]
[name_m]Harvey[/name_m]
[name_m]Robin[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Reuben[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Samson[/name_m]
But honestly, if [name_m]August[/name_m] has been the front-runner for ages and you both love it, I wouldn’t necessarily let popularity put you off. It feels so lovely with the girls, and you’ll never regret choosing a name you adored once it fits the child.
I do like [name_m]Everett[/name_m] and [name_m]Linus[/name_m] – though I’m thinking the latter would be out with your surname and [name_m]Everett[/name_m] is more popular than [name_m]August[/name_m] in the US
I think [name_m]August[/name_m] is a name that is spoken about a lot but isn’t actually used in real life. I love [name_m]August[/name_m] he’s so handsome and bright with a southern flair which I think works with P & I. Honestly I think [name_m]August[/name_m] is rare ranking #728 in UK popularity charts where I am but appreciate in the states he’s within the top 100. Still I do think there’s a difference between a top 100 name nowadays too in the 90s as there is such a wide variety of names in use nowadays especially on the lower end of the charts. I think [name_m]Linus[/name_m] & [name_m]Everett[/name_m] are such lovely names too especially [name_m]Linus[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Linus[/name_m] is gorgeous such an endearing geek chic name.
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
[name_m]Just[/name_m] so I’m clear, you both like [name_m]Linus[/name_m] BUT it’s not a contender because of your last name? So the only real options at this point are [name_m]August[/name_m] or [name_m]Everett[/name_m]?
I do love [name_m]Everett[/name_m] with your girls’ names. But let’s see what else we can find.
[name_m]Beau[/name_m]
[name_m]Ben[/name_m]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_m]Dean[/name_m]
[name_m]Hudson[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Jameson[/name_m]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m]
[name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]
[name_m]Miles[/name_m] (more of a Z sound at the end–don’t know if that helps with the surname situation)
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_m]Weston[/name_m]
It seems like [name_m]August[/name_m] has shot up more quickly than [name_m]Everett[/name_m] but maybe that’s just because in my state [name_m]August[/name_m] is more popular. Thanks for the suggestions!
