@MichelleM Thank you for giving me your thoughts! Really helpful to hear others’ associations! I’m eliminating [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] based on the comments on this thread - so we’re getting somewhere! [name_u]Love[/name_u] these other ideas too and plan to share them with my husband!
I love your style! Thoughts on your possibilities:
Jane- LOVE this name, but I do think it’s a little too much with J0nes, sorry.
Cecily- Also a very nice name, and I love it with Ed1th and L0uisa! They have a very nice old-fashioned British feel to me. But probably not if your husband finds it hard to say, and doesn’t really like it.
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] nn Cate: Same here, I love [name_f]Cate[/name_f], not Katie/Catie. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is so elegant and classy.
Margot: You could do [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] with you sometimes calling her [name_f]Margot[/name_f], to compromise between you and your husband, but with your bad association w/Margaret, and him not liking [name_f]Margot[/name_f], that might make both you and your husband unhappy, especially if your daughter opts for one or the other entirely.
Annie: I love Annie! Would your husband like it better as a nickname for [name_u]Anne[/name_u], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], Anne-Marie, [name_f]Marianne[/name_f], etc?
Margaret: Great name! (Another one of my favorites.) Maybe if you like it, try referring to your unborn baby as [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] for a while and see if the association bothers you?
Other ideas (some of these are seconds):
[name_f]Irene[/name_f]
Rosemary/Rosemarie
Mary/Mary [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
Eliza/Elizabeth
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
I thought it would be fun to update in case anyone checked back.
We chose [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and I LOVE it! And my husband does too! Usually I kind of panic for the first few months after baby wondering if the name fits but not this time - I just really like it!
Lots of people pronouncing it “Sicily” is the only downside so far, but we just correct them and it’s fine!
Hooray! I’m just reading this thread for the first time and I think [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] was the perfect choice! Congratulations on your baby girl.
Thank you!!!
