[name_f]My[/name_f] husband & I are expecting our first daughter in [name_f]September[/name_f], and we’re just starting to look for names. I love old fashioned “grandma” names that are a little uncommon but not unheard of. So far we’ve come up with:
Alice [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is my favorite of your list. I would add [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Beverly[/name_f], and [name_f]Edith[/name_f]/Edie, and [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f].
I love all of those names! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is my favorite! Here are some other suggestions:
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Ines[/name_f]-[name_f]Esme[/name_f] is gorgeous! It’s smart, elegant & has a little pixie feel. It’s not terribly complicated, but not over done either. I don’t love the combo of [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Ines[/name_f] personally, but Maybe if [name_f]Ines[/name_f] is special to you for some reason it’s fine. Otherwise I’d suggest:
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Tallula[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]-Ooh, that’s just beautiful. It’s simple & sleek. But also soft & kind sounding.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]-Another fantastic combo. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is the perfect balance of old fashioned charm w/sweetness & smart-ness. I have noticed it getting a lot more popular though. I hear it a lot on little tykes.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]-This is getting a tad more common too, but not as much as [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. It’s not my personal favorite though. Not sure why. It just doesn’t have a pleasant sound to me.
Alice [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] is beautiful! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is gorgeous too and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is one of my favourite names. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] would be my top choice.
What about [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]? I agree with [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Ines[/name_f] sound too similar as a combo but both names are nice, I particularly like [name_f]Ines[/name_f]. Maybe [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Ines[/name_f] or [name_f]Ines[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f]?
I think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is my favorite of your combos…except [name_f]Iris[/name_f], which is my favorite overall. Perhaps you’d consider [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]? (I see I’m not the first to suggest it, and I think it is simply lovely!)
I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. I suggest [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] or [name_f]Delores[/name_f] [name_f]Tyne[/name_f]
Congratulations on your baby girl, and welcome to Nameberry!
I’m really loving your list so far
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Ines[/name_f] are my favourite names individually, but I’m not sure I love them together – they’re the same length and share a lot of the same sounds, so my tongue trips over the combination a bit.
I really love [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and especially [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] as combos, though! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is also lovely – maybe [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]?
Here are some more names that spring to mind when I read your list. Many of these will no doubt be repeats of previous suggestions, so please consider those seconded!
Beautiful list! I like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] best with your surname, but [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_m]Byrne[/name_m] is also incredibly gorgeous. I think something like [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] would be beautiful and in line with your current combos? Maybe [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] or [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Noemi[/name_f], too ([name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]?).
In addition to [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f], I would maybe add:
Thank you so much for all of your suggestions!! After repeating [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Ines[/name_f] over and over again, we do agree that [name_f]Ines[/name_f] is too close to [name_f]Esme[/name_f] to work as a middle name. We’re definitely leaning towards [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] right now!! Absolutely LOVE everyone’s suggestions as well!!
ooh [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is so pretty. Idk about middle names…[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Susanne[/name_f]? I guess the s’s might run together. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] would be pretty. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]… I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] a lot too. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] would actually be very cute if you don’t mind the double i’s.
