My husband and I are struggling to find a name we like & can agree on. Our problem is we have been TTC for awhile and we made a list about four years ago of names for girls - now, we just don’t love any of them. I also struggle with wanting a unique name that isn’t too out of left field. Help! I have listed our top names below to help with direction, but I’m open to all ideas.
**Names on our list (no particular order):
[name_u]Chandler[/name_u]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_u]Nile[/name_u]
[name_m]Connor[/name_m]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_u]Corin[/name_u]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]
[name_f]Edie[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
Might I suggest [name_f]Corina[/name_f] or [name_f]Corrina[/name_f]? Since you like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_u]Corin[/name_u]. It’s a unique but familiar name that you can get great nicknames from.
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] are all too popular for me and if you want unique, those would not be it. [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is way too trendy for me right now. [name_u]Chandler[/name_u] is the only one from your list that really fits your criteria, but I don’t love that name. Still, it could work.
If you want a unique name I would scrap [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], and [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
My personal favorite from your list are [name_u]Chandler[/name_u], [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (Which I would spell [name_u]Eliot[/name_u] on a girl) and [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_u]Nile[/name_u], [name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_u]Corin[/name_u], or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f].
I see from your list you are not afraid, and maybe even prefer, unisex or traditionally male names on girls. I’m right there with you! I have a unisex/male-leaning name and I have loved it for a long time! I think it makes me stand out and not in a bad way.
So if you like [name_u]Chandler[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], and [name_m]Connor[/name_m] maybe you would like [name_u]Camden[/name_u], [name_u]Logan[/name_u], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], or [name_m]Colin[/name_m]. Check out the popularity of [name_u]Logan[/name_u] on the girls side for 2014 - it’s definitely gaining on team pink. It’s my favorite gender-bender at the moment.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. It’s unfortunate that [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] are so popular, because they are definitely my favorites. That’s my struggle - the names I love are overused. I’m a teacher and it’s so clear in my classroom which children were named from a list. I don’t want that for her, but I can’t seem to find something a little different that just grabs me. I’m definitely open to any and all ideas.
You are absolutely on point! Of your list, I love the name [name_m]Colin[/name_m]. Unfortunately, that is my [name_m]BIL[/name_m]'s name. I’d like a name like that. I am certainly a fan of unisex names and male names; however, I want to make sure she can grow with it. Can you see that I’m perhaps a bit to over-analytical?:)
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Lux[/name_f]
[name_f]Katerina[/name_f] (you could use [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as a nn)
Maddelena
Magdelena
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
Sorry, I know this list is pretty random, but I hope it helps!
At the moment, my favorite boys name for girls are [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Spence[/name_u]) and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] (you could do [name_u]Rian[/name_u], [name_u]Ryen[/name_u] or [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] to differentiate if youd prefer) Good luck!!
