I think we may have finally got our short list together for baby girl #2 coming in [name_u]January[/name_u]. Which name do you think goes best with big sister [name_f]Marah[/name_f]?
My favorites in order are:
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
Husband is the exact opposite (he swears not on purpose lol!)
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]
Also, how would you pronounce [name_f]Ada[/name_f]: [name_m]Add[/name_m]-uh or Aid-uh? We both like the name but pronounce it differently. We live in the US.
I think you should go with [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as it’s a name you both like the same amound. [name_f]Lena[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is a little jumbled but cute.
I think [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] go really well with [name_f]Marah[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Lena[/name_f] but I don’t love it with [name_f]Marah[/name_f]. [name_f]Libby[/name_f] sounds more like a nickname to me than a full name. I have a friend named [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and she is [name_m]Add[/name_m]-uh. She has dutch heritage in case that helps.
I pronounce [name_f]Ada[/name_f] aid-uh. I think it’s the best pairing with [name_f]Marah[/name_f]- two syllables, Hebrew, same cadence. [name_f]Adah[/name_f] is a more traditional spelling if you’d like it to match sister’s name more.
Well, [name_f]Lena[/name_f] is smack in the middle ;). I would also be leaning towards [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Libby[/name_f] (though I pref. as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]) as they have a different ending to [name_f]Marah[/name_f] but still fit well.
I pronounce [name_f]Ada[/name_f] Aid-uh (Australian).
I would also lean toward [name_f]Libby[/name_f] or [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] because the letters/sounds are more distinct from [name_f]Marah[/name_f]. [name_f]Libby[/name_f] I’d probably prefer as a nickname but I like it a bit more than [name_u]Eloise[/name_u].
I would pronounce [name_f]Ada[/name_f] as “AY-duh” and [name_f]Aida[/name_f] as “EYE-duh”.
I like [name_f]Libby[/name_f] best from your names but it does sound nicknamey next to [name_f]Marah[/name_f]. [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is my next choice - this would work well.
I like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. I assumed [name_f]Ada[/name_f] would be pronounced AID-a but now I see I shouldn’t assume that. I’m honestly not sure how to pronounce [name_f]Ayla[/name_f], but all of the possibilities I can think of sound very nice with [name_f]Marah[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is the least compatible. To me it has a very different vibe from [name_f]Marah[/name_f]. I associate it with the children’s book, which is positive, but different from [name_f]Marah[/name_f].
