We are having our 3rd child very soon, a son. Our last name is Ore. My husband likes [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], I do too but worry that it doesn’t flow very well when you say them together i.e it sounds a bit like ‘co’borr’, at the end.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering what others think…am I being too picky?? Any other suggestions for boys names that go with Ore?
I actually think [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] Ore flows nicely (and I’m usually pretty picky about these things :)!). What if you used [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] with a middle name, does that change it for you?
I see what you mean, it can sound like [name_u]Jay[/name_u] Cabore or [name_m]Jake[/name_m]-a-bore…but that’s if you’re listening for it. I don’t think it would actually be a problem [name_m]IRL[/name_m]. It’s just something that happens with vowel last names. If you love [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] otherwise, i would not let that be a dealbreaker. But if you’re still unsure, try names with different endings and see which you feel flow the best. Might want to think about nicknames too, like would [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] be called [name_m]Jake[/name_m]? Is [name_m]Jake[/name_m] Ore better (or worse)??
Thanks for the reply, yes we would use a middle name, I like [name_u]Luca[/name_u] or [name_m]William[/name_m] and if said all together I think sounds ok.
[name_m]Jacob[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] Ore
[name_m]Jacob[/name_m] [name_u]Luca[/name_u] Ore
Its such a hard last name! I haven’t wanted to use a H or E names because of associations with H.Ore or E.Ore (eeyore)
Thanks Emsky for your reply, you nailed what I was getting at. Its hubby’s choice this time and this name is the front runner so far. I do like [name_m]Jake[/name_m] which he would likely get and i think [name_m]Jake[/name_m] Ore sounds ok, but he really likes [name_m]Jacob[/name_m].
This last name is so hard! I have thought of [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], not sure what this would be shortened to…
Thanks for the other suggestions.
It’s fine with the last name [name_f]IMO[/name_f], but since [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] has been so popular in recent years I personally wouldn’t use the name for that reason (but if you like it and the popularity doesn’t bother you then go for it).
