[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, I’m still working through my girl’s list and trying to narrow down which combos I like best. Swear I’m almost done, lol, and y’all’s input has been extremely helpful. Today’s name is Fay(e). I know [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is the more common spelling but I like both about equally and it just depends aesthetically on which name I pair it with for the spelling that I choose. That’s why when you take a look at the combos I’m considering, some are [name_f]Fay[/name_f] and some are [name_f]Faye[/name_f] but that’s just because I’ve subjectively chosen which variation I prefer aesthetically with that middle name.
One consideration I’ve run into is that Fay(e) tends to create a word sound when paired with certain middles, so like [name_f]Fay[/name_f] K- sounds like “fake”, [name_f]Fay[/name_f] S- sounds like “face”, [name_f]Fay[/name_f] L- sounds like “fail”, etc. Not sure if this matters too much or if it bothers other people…? But something I’ve just noticed. Another consideration is I have some names on my list that I really want to incorporate into combos, so I have kind of two lists going on here, one with “wish names” that I want to make work and another with my wild cards that are already in other combos. Of course, I’m going to choose what I feel works the best for me in the end but hoping to get some feedback on if my “wish names” work best or if one of my “wild card” combos takes the cake.
Any input on these combos is appreciated. Which ones are your favorites? Which don’t work at all? Why or why not? Rank them from fave to least fave, make a love/like/lose list, describe the combo with emojis or words, etc.!
“wish names” - middles I don’t have on my combos list already
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Arabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_u]Julie[/name_u] <-a little simple but so so pretty, lowkey a frontrunner for me
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
“wildcards” - I already have these as middles with other names too but I still really like them!
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_u]Cerulean[/name_u] <-in love with this but I have [name_u]Cerulean[/name_u] a couple times as a middle already
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Christiana[/name_f] / [name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Christiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] <-in love with this but I have [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] a couple times as a middle already
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Gisele[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_u]Ashton[/name_u]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Hollie[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Lissette[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Lynette[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] son’s great-great-grandmother was [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f], and his wife also has a great-grandmother [name_f]Fay[/name_f], so Fay/Faye is a name they are definitely going to use.
For the making other words issue, I think it depends on the name. I don’t notice “face” with [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] or [name_f]Summer[/name_f] but I kind of do for [name_u]Cerulean[/name_u] and [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]. I think it might have to do with the way the S sounds connects to the rest of the middle name? Like with some of them the S flows really securely into the next sound and on others its a bit more prominent/seperate and attaches more easliy to [name_f]Faye[/name_f]? If that made any sense at all, lol. I’m not sure how big of a deal it is but it does make me like the flow of those combos less.
All of the Wish Names flow well, [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] are my favorites.
On the Wildcard List I like the flow of these:
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Christiana[/name_f] / [name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Christiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Lissette[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Lynette[/name_f]
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f]
With [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] being my top 3.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] ( ), [name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_u]Julie[/name_u] and [name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]!
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] doesn’t work as well to me. Somehow [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] soumds harsh as a middle name to [name_f]Faye[/name_f].
The [name_f]Fay[/name_f] K, [name_f]Fay[/name_f] L and [name_f]Fay[/name_f] S sounds are something to keep in mind but in think it usually wouldn’t be a problem because it will be obvious that [name_f]Fay[/name_f] is a first name and then the next sound is part of the middle name, so at least to me I automatically hear them as seperate sounds.
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] - bright, stylish, balanced and cool
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Arabel[/name_f] - it feels a bit choppy/chopped off
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_u]Julie[/name_u] - simple, sweet and charming
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] - sleek and charming
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] - gorgeous - love it - stylish and warm
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] - it adds spark and sass
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] - flows well, but meh
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_u]Cerulean[/name_u] - intriguing and magical
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Christiana[/name_f] / [name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Christiana[/name_f] - a bit too extravagant for me with [name_f]Fay[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] - ah, this is gorgeous - gentle but strong and lively
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Gisele[/name_f] - zippy and cool
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] - whimsical and magical
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] - I like these two together you might be converting me. [name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] has a kind of stylish vibe
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] - elegant and has flair
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_u]Ashton[/name_u] - these feel mismatched
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] - warm and rugged
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Hollie[/name_f] - pretty cute but something incomplete about it?
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] - elegant, sharp and sleek
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Larissa[/name_f] - light, bright and airy
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Lissette[/name_f] - sleek and sharp
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Lynette[/name_f] - zippy and charming
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] - mystical and magical
[name_f]Faye[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] - warm and lovely
I adore Fay/e. It’s one of my favourites. I don’t think many would notice Faye-K Faye-L and so on. They are separate names and how often are they going to be said together like that, anyway? I think it’s only us, the names enthusiasts who really agonise over things like this.
From your list I like
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_u]Julie[/name_u] (you don’t hear [name_u]Julie[/name_u] much. Only Julia/et. This is my mother’s name, so I’m biased)
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Larissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Fay[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]
On the whole though, I think [name_f]Fay[/name_f] goes well with almost any name I can think of!
