Help with honor name

We like to honor people with our kids names, and now the only person left to honor is my husband’s dad. His first name is [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] and middle name is [name_m]Brian[/name_m]. The issue is we’re having a girl and I can’t think of anything feminine that could honor those. The name will be going in the middle slot, first name will be [name_f]Raya[/name_f]. So I’m hoping to find some help with a name that could honor either of those. Thanks!

[name_f]Briana[/name_f], [name_f]Brianna[/name_f], [name_f]Bria[/name_f], or [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] come to mind to honor the middle name [name_m]Brian[/name_m]! [name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_f]Bria[/name_f] is a little repetitive but [name_f]Raya[/name_f] Brianna/Briana or [name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] would sound nice I think!

[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] and [name_f]Briella[/name_f] could also work.

[name_f]Doris[/name_f], [name_f]Dorcas[/name_f], [name_f]Gladys[/name_f] or [name_f]Glenys[/name_f] could work for [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] but these names tend to be an acquired taste.

Perhaps [name_f]Briony[/name_f] as another option for [name_m]Brian[/name_m].

I read in a thread about users’ siblings names that @Youssarian has a lot of Brian honor names in their family. Maybe that could bring some inspiration.

I think Bryony would be my favorite female honor name for Brian.

I feel like [name_f]Raya[/name_f] kinda honors [name_m]Brian[/name_m]. I also really like [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] tp honor [name_m]Brian[/name_m].

Have you tried using the letters that make up [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] and [name_m]Brian[/name_m]? There’s so many combinations some I liked that were more obviously made using most of the letters are:

Gabrianna
Biridiana
Gabrionna
Giordanna

Some combinations that didn’t use all the letters but some of them:

[name_f]Lailani[/name_f]
[name_f]Abagail[/name_f]
[name_f]Golda[/name_f]

Names from just [name_m]Brian[/name_m]:
[name_u]Briar[/name_u]
[name_f]Bibianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Narina[/name_f]

Names from just [name_u]Douglas[/name_u]:
[name_f]Golda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Lulu[/name_f]
Soula
[name_u]Soul[/name_u]
[name_f]Olga[/name_f]
[name_u]Sol[/name_u]

Maybe you might find a combination to love, once you figure out the parameters that mean the most to you.

I think I like

[name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_f]Abagail[/name_f] the best it has the hebrew roots and the meaning of Father’s joy, as you’re honoring a father, I think that’s a nice subtle but significant link.

All the best!

First off, I think Raya Douglas is kinda cute  There’s already some lovely options for feminine versions of Brian & Douglas, so I decided to go in a different direction. Personally, I love name meanings so I found some options if you’d prefer to use feminine names with the same meanings as Douglas & Brian.

For Douglas (black water/stream):

Raya Ebony Cherith
Raya Kallan Kol
Raya Dove Winslet

For Brian (noble):

Raya Edel
Raya Paisley
Raya Edlyn

[name_u]Blair[/name_u] (Scottish, like [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], similar letters to Brian)
[name_f]Lilias[/name_f] (Scottish, like [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], inspired by the ‘las’ ending)

What about [name_f]Bryony[/name_f]?

[name_f]Briet[/name_f] is nice although the sound differs (Bree- as opposed to Bry-), but visually looks similar enough imo to stand as an honour. Also the name of a prominent Icelandic feminist.

Good memory!

We do, in fact, have a lot of [name_m]Brian[/name_m] and [name_m]Bryan[/name_m] honor names in my family. For girls, we have [name_f]Brianna[/name_f] and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. I think any name with -bri- in it can be an honor for [name_m]Brian[/name_m], as well as [name_f]Bree[/name_f] itself. [name_f]Briony[/name_f], [name_f]Brianne[/name_f], Brielle/Briella, [name_f]Bria[/name_f], [name_u]Briar[/name_u], [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_f]Aubriana[/name_f], [name_u]Briley[/name_u], [name_f]Brisa[/name_f], [name_u]Britton[/name_u], etc.

I think I would go with names that have the same general meaning…

For [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] you could use: [name_f]Cherith[/name_f], [name_f]Doris[/name_f], [name_f]Jenna[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Thalassa[/name_f], or [name_f]Winslet[/name_f].

For [name_m]Brian[/name_m] it has a couple different possible meanings
[name_u]Noble[/name_u]: [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Alberta[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Ethel[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], or [name_u]Patrice[/name_u]
Honorable: [name_f]Bertha[/name_f], [name_u]Cleo[/name_u], [name_u]Honor[/name_u], [name_f]Merida[/name_f], or [name_f]Odelia[/name_f].

you could also go with a feminized version of his occupation, or something he loves for instance his favorite color, place he was born or grew-up, animal, character from a book, a virtue his that you want to impart on your little girl.

Any B or D name that you love bonus if that name has the same number of letters as [name_m]Brian[/name_m] or [name_u]Douglas[/name_u].

sorry for repeats, also included some stretchy or more out there options:

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
[name_u]Ryan[/name_u] / [name_u]Rian[/name_u] (though [name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] is probably a bit much)
[name_f]Bria[/name_f]
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_u]Dory[/name_u]
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_u]Brogan[/name_u]
[name_f]Lassie[/name_f]
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] (B and D)
[name_f]Bindi[/name_f]
[name_f]Debora[/name_f] (DB)
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_u]Ridley[/name_u]
[name_u]Brinley[/name_u]
[name_f]Dee[/name_f]
[name_f]Bee[/name_f]
[name_u]Day[/name_u]
Glass

[name_f]Raya[/name_f] Bryla (Brian)
[name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_f]Dianne[/name_f] (Douglas Brian)
[name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] (Douglas)
[name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_m]Dion[/name_m] (Douglas Brian)
[name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] (Brian)

I agree with the suggestion that [name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] sounds nice and is a lovely way to honor without being too obscure. I love the suggestion of a name like [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] as well. [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] is very pretty.

Also, [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] reminds me of Doulas fir trees so keeping with that imagery maybe something related to that would work? [name_f]Raya[/name_f] [name_u]Forest[/name_u] is lovely.

Good luck finding something you love that also works with your honor names!
