Ok. I think [name]Delphine[/name] is pretty, if maybe a little much and sounds like dolphin.
[name]Cordelia[/name] is one of my family names that I thought no one liked until I looked on nameberry. If you like [name]Anne[/name] of [name]Green[/name] Gables, this was one of her favorite flowery names when she was a child. Another name from my family and the same time period would be [name]Drucilla[/name]. Maybe you like the style of that? I think it’s interesting. Was my great grandmother’s name.
[name]Ottavia[/name] sounds a little odd to me.
[name]Gwendolen[/name] is nice, but I like it better with the spelling of [name]Gwendolyn[/name]. There is a Welsh name that is from my sister’s husband’s family tree. The name is from a queen, [name]Queen[/name] Gwynnid.
[name]Lyra[/name] is lovely.
[name]Flora[/name] - this is a tough one. It’s pretty and it was the name I picked for my doll as a child. Is it too pretty? At first glance, some people might think it’s too old fashioned. But I think any lively girl would breathe a new life into it.
[name]Calliope[/name] - I don’t understand people’s fascination with this name right now. A way to get to [name]Callie[/name]? An alternative to [name]Penelope[/name]? Maybe people like the Greek or almost tropical sound of it. A lot of Greek names have a different way of spelling than English names, and a different rhythm. I would look into more Greek names if you want more like this. I think there is a musical instrument called a [name]Calliope[/name] which is a turnoff for me.
[name]Beatrix[/name] - my grandmother’s name was [name]Beatrice[/name], and I had picked it out for my first girl so I was taken aback that so many people on nameberry are talking about the name. I thought it was a name that had fallen out of fashion. [name]Beatrix[/name] is definitely a cool spin on it, and reminds me of [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Potter[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name] Kiddo from Kill [name]Bill[/name]. I thought that [name]Quentin[/name] [name]Tarantino[/name] really picked a nice strong name that was totally unexpected, uncommon, and unique to his heroine. He leaves the viewers in suspense for a long time before revealing the swordswoman "[name]Black[/name] Mamba"s true name - [name]Beatrix[/name] Kiddo.
[name]Clementine[/name] - I am on team [name]Clementine[/name]. I think it’s neat, and so what if there are oranges named after it? But I would advise you only to use it if you really love it. It’s pretty on paper, but a mouthful in real life. And I’d be scared that people would start saying “[name]Tina[/name]” instead. [name]Clem[/name] or [name]Clemmy[/name] aren’t so cute either. Sound kind of like Clam and Clammy. But maybe they would work. [name]Valentine[/name] is also a beautiful name, though more commonly heard. It’s not THAT common though. I think [name]Valentine[/name] is nice. [name]Adeline[/name] is neat…I picked that up from Big [name]Love[/name], it’s the name of [name]Nikki[/name]'s mom, although some people spell it Adaleen.
So much for the review. Here are a couple of names just off the top of my head…
My name is [name]Lydia[/name] [name]Sylvia[/name]. Two of my friends have now named their babies [name]Lydia[/name], but I don’t think it’s all that common nationwide…not sure though.
My sister’s name is [name]Kelli[/name]. I know [name]Kelly[/name], [name]Kellie[/name], etc. were previously popular, but as the popularity seems to be dropping, it might be a good time to use this name. I prefer it spelled [name]Kelli[/name].
I personally like [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]Jessamyn[/name].
[name]Hope[/name] this helps!
