[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’m new to this forum. I’m expecting baby #8. My husband and I are having a tough time agreeing on a name, and I’m curious if perhaps you could make a suggestion that would go well with our other children’s names. They are…
All of the boys have my husband’s middle name [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], and all the girls have my middle name [name_f]Anne[/name_f].
[name_f]Emme[/name_f] is a thought for this baby girl, but I’m a little concerned with how well [name_f]Emme[/name_f] will age with her. [name_f]Erin[/name_f] was a favorite of my husband’s but I’m not liking it. [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] we both kind of liked. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is a favorite of mine, but my husband isn’t thrilled with it.
Would [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] be too long for you? You could call her [name_f]Emme[/name_f], but she would have other nickname options to choose from.
I love you kids’ names by the way! I think [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] might be a nice sister name.
[name_f]Emme[/name_f] is my best friend and former roommates name! [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] choice. Ages very well, as it has that classic feel. Very lovely choice!
I don’t think [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] would sound ideal. What about [name_u]Emory[/name_u], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] or simply [name_f]Emma[/name_f] as your daughter’s name?
Suggestions -> [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Dora[/name_f], [name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]?
When I was growing up, my mom had a friend who’s name I thought for the longest time was [name_f]Emme[/name_f]. Turns out it was actually M.E. short for [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]. Regardless, the sound was the same, and I thought it worked as well on adult as it would on a child.
First I would look at just the girls for style so, [name_f]Karis[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Mia[/name_f]. [name_f]Karis[/name_f] and most of your boys names feel very biblical to me but mainstream/current/popular as well. [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Mia[/name_f] are that but not so biblical ([name_f]Mia[/name_f] vs [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] vs [name_f]Esther[/name_f])
I would look for another 2 syllable name with a preference to avoid another name ending in a since 4 of your kids already have that ending. Off your list I like [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] best but it would be the only 1 syllable name.
[name_m]Chip[/name_m] and [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] Gains from Fixer Upper have an [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]. I also know sisters [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] so it can work and it seems you are fine with similar sibling names since you have a [name_u]Micha[/name_u] and [name_f]Mia[/name_f] and also an [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] also share an initial but not so much sounds. So I would say go for it if you love it!
If you do decided that they are too close I would pick a name that is more similar to one of the names on the first list, particularly [name_f]Karis[/name_f] or [name_m]Levi[/name_m] vs the second list. So no to [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f] or [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f] (too close to [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_m]Levi[/name_m]).
I suggest:
[name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Gracie[/name_f],
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] (non-traditional Biblical choice)
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] (but it ends in a again)
You are right sarab.cook that we tried to choose biblical names. We don’t like very many girl biblical names, thus the [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Mia[/name_f]. I would love to have a [name_f]Selah[/name_f] (again biblical), but my husband does not like that name. I tend to like more unique pretty sounding names. My husband likes more nicknamish/cutesy or gender neutral girl names. The 2 syllable pattern for all my names just happened by chance when we compromise and agree on a name. And my husband is a teacher, so that makes naming a challenge since it’s very easy to like or dislike a name because of its association.
My husband suggested the name [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] tonight. I’ve never thought about this name before. What are your impressions of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], and how does it go with my other kids’ names?
Oh I love all your children names, you guys sound a lot like us <3 congrats on baby #8 !!!
You’re ideas are great and I have to ay I know a Bryn, and I know and Erin and I know an Emme and I know an aria so I have to say they aren’t super common but they are loved. I also love what you do with middle names, that’s actually really cool! I also knew a Micah, know an Ethan and I know an Ella. I want to say It looks you dont mind reusing initials or name endings but that you do like two syllable names. That actually makes it easier to help find you something.
I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] as well, I actually knew a dog names [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] but we live in the country so I’ve known a dog names just about anything haha… I think [name_f]Emme[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] for some reason is a hard sell for me, [name_f]Emma[/name_f] I think would flow much better. [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] is excellent, [name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] has sooo many As its hard too, [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] has a lot of nnnnn going on so its hard… [name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] the same as [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] accept since it has two syllables its softer. I’m trying to think of suggestions I fee likee you like modern but classic and I like it, hmm…
Congrats on #8!! I’m partial to large families as I have 7 myself!!
I love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Emme[/name_f]! I think I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] a bit better than [name_f]Emme[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] though.
Bummer your DH isn’t on board with [name_f]Selah[/name_f]!! That is one of my favorites! Coincidentally, I had [name_f]Selah[/name_f]-[name_u]Dove[/name_u] nn [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] on my list for my youngest! Lol
So, yeah, I’m definitely a fan of [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]!
Thank you dinosaursroar and relics for your opinions. Tonight I seem to be leaning towards [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], and my husband really likes it, too. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] that there’s a positive response on here to [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]. It sounds vintage, modern and spunky all in one to me.
