I’ve hit a brick wall and need some inspiration with naming baby number 4 (girl number 3) who is due end of [name_f]October[/name_f] early [name_u]November[/name_u]. We both like names that are a little out there, and not popular, with a fantasy/sci-fi feel to them.
Would rather the name didn’t start with an A, as the middle name is [name_f]Alaine[/name_f] (after my brothers middle name which was [name_m]Alan[/name_m]). We have a very common last name (rhymes with Bones )

I’m a big fan of Gwena, I actually named my daughter [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] and we call her Gwena/[name_f]Gwynna[/name_f] but I’m not sure how well that fits with your middle name choice. I personally like how Kerowyn [name_f]Alaine[/name_f] looks, but either way I hope some of those name suggestions help

In the book its from its suppose to be pronounced [name_u]Kay[/name_u] Lan, but that bugged me, so we pretty much pronounce it how it is spelt… k [name_m]AH[/name_m] lAHn
I love Elaira and [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f], Hubby took Elaira off the list… he doesn’t like the nickname [name_f]Ella[/name_f] for some reason.
I’d actually prefer if the name came from a book, seeing as though the other ones do as well, its the only thing holding me back on Inara. We got that name from the short lived tv series Firefly which we were big fans of!
We love [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], the name Jaric also plays a short roll in it the book, and its also in Janny Wurts.
Liandrin ([name_u]Lee[/name_u] Ahn drhin) is another name on our list from [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], I love how it sounds, i’m just not sold on how it looks.
Other authors we love, [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] E Feist, [name_m]George[/name_m] R.R [name_m]Martin[/name_m] (but wont use any of the names thanks to the t.v series… hmph). [name_u]Terry[/name_u] [name_m]Brooks[/name_m], [name_u]Terry[/name_u] Goodkind, [name_m]David[/name_m] Eddings, [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] Hickman, [name_m]David[/name_m] [name_m]Drake[/name_m]… I could go on. Hubby is a bit of a book work worm
Firefly is the exact reason why I love Inara lol, or any [name_u]Joss[/name_u] Whedon name for that matter! But I can understand you guys wanting to continue your trend of naming your children after names from books you love.
Based upon that, I would go back towards the suggestion of Gamina, possibly? She was one of my favorite female minor characters in the whole book series by Feist.
Another suggestion would be maybe [name_f]Mara[/name_f]? Its the name of the main character of Daughter of the Empire by Feist and Wurts, so that covers two of the authors you guys like!
I also think Liandrin is pretty and goes well with [name_f]Alaine[/name_f].

Inara [name_f]Alaine[/name_f] is nice, but basically you just need to pick a name from a book you like and stick you your theme, way to late to change that now.
yes its from Firefly the other ones don’t sing out to me… [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is the kids half sister, so that is out. [name_u]River[/name_u] is too trendy.

I don’t know much about Inara, but there was a [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] by this name in an ancient Middle Eastern religion (Syria?). She was the [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of wild animals. I think it’s a beautiful name.
Im not sure if Inara is the name of a character in a book, however there is an author by the name of Inara [name_m]Scott[/name_m] who writes fantasy novels.
