Help with nicknames for Acacia?

…So my given name is [name]Acacia[/name]. Only my mom, 16 at the time, decided to get kreative and pronounce it uh-CAH-see-uh, instead of uh-[name]KAY[/name]-shuh. Growing up in a town of 1000 people, I was none the wiser that I had a mispronounced name but now that I am working towards an English degree and meet people who are familiar with the correct pronunciation I get incredibly embarrassed telling people my name.
So why not just start pronouncing it correctly? I don’t know… it sounds foreign to me. I’ve come to resent it altogether.

The closest name that I’ve come across that fits my current pronunciation is [name]Kassia[/name], but I really like [name]Kissa[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think that that’s too far of a stretch from [name]Acacia[/name]? Any better nickname ideas so I can re-brand and go by a name that I actually like?

Thanks for all your help and sorry for being so long-winded.

[name]Acacia[/name] is a rare gem of a name and I quite like it’s exotic pronunciation “uh-[name]KAY[/name]-shuh”. It certainly would be a bit different in a small town. It sounds like it’s become an embarrassment for you which is unfortunate. The first nn I thought of was [name]Casey[/name] but I don’t know if that would be your taste or not. I’m certain that no one would mispronoune [name]Casey[/name]. [name]Cassia[/name] (I prefer the more classic spelling with a “C” ) would be a fun nn too. I would avoid [name]Kissa[/name] as the name may get some strange remarks, especially from men. If you like a less feminine option, maybe try just [name]Cass[/name]. I knew a girl named [name]Kizzie[/name] long ago. It’s a strench but could work! Good luck in your nickname quest!
