Help with spelling...Lina OR Lena?

We have FINALLY decided on a name for our baby girl! She will be [name]Lina[/name] [name]Sofia[/name] ([name]LEE[/name]-[name]NUH[/name]) at least that is the spelling that i like. BUT, DH prefers [name]Lena[/name] [name]Sofia[/name]. Our families are both from Europe and the [name]Lina[/name] spelling would be traditional for us. however, he seems to think that here in the US people will pronounce it [name]LINE[/name]-UH, and of coarse i think [name]Lena[/name] will more likely be mispronounced to [name]LENN[/name]-UH or [name]LAY[/name]-[name]NUH[/name] hmmmm maybe we are thinking too deeply on this one lol. the great news is we both [name]LOVE[/name] her name, now if we can agree on the spelling…what do you think?

[name]Lina[/name] would be pronounce [name]LEE[/name]-nah 99% of the time imo. [name]Lena[/name] however could be [name]LEE[/name]-nah, [name]LAY[/name]-nah or LEH-nah. I would go with [name]Lina[/name] if you are concerned about pronounciation.

I think that [name]Lina[/name] would probably be easier to pronounce… Also, I think that, for some reason, [name]Lina[/name] fits better with [name]Carlos[/name], [name]Mia[/name], and [name]Xavier[/name].

[name]Lena[/name] has a classier feel to it… and with [name]Lena[/name] Horne, I don’t think there would be major issues with pn.

As I’ve said in other posts, the simplest of names will have to be explained to someone - there is ALWAYS that person who doesn’t get it. [name]Don[/name]'t let that be a reason not to use a name!

Definitely [name]Lena[/name]! It’s the classic spelling in English. [name]Lina[/name] looks off somehow . . . or as if it’s spelled that way because it’s short for something else like [name]Catalina[/name].

I wrote [name]Lina[/name] out for my husband and he said he would pn it [name]LEE[/name]-nuh…I think that is a pretty good indicator. I love the name, it is one of my favorites!!!
