In my story there are twins one (boy) represents the sun and the
other moon(girl) I’d like their names to reflect the sun and moon but not be super obvious like for example “sunny and star” ugh. I like [name_m]Phoebus[/name_m] for a boy but is it to hard to pronounce I pronounce it “fee-bus”. I have no idea for girls names.
This idea immediately reminds me of [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] & [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], the Greek God of the sun and the Greek [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of the moon and the hunt. Fittingly, they are twins!
I’m not sure if this is too on the nose for you, but I think it’s pretty neat. [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is also the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] form, but [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]’ [name_m]Roman[/name_m] form is [name_f]Diana[/name_f], much more subtle and a great name - I highly suggest [name_f]Diana[/name_f].
Male names for [name_f]Sun[/name_f] or similar:
[name_u]Orion[/name_u] - “light of the heavens”. Mythological name, killed by [name_f]Diana[/name_f] and placed as a constellation.
[name_m]Lucius[/name_m]/[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] - “light”
[name_m]Albus[/name_m]: “white, bright”
Charon: “fierce brightness”, also mythological - the ferryman of the [name_u]River[/name_u] Styx. Pronounced “care-on”
Female names for [name_f]Moon[/name_f] or similar:
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] - “[name_m]Night[/name_m]” in Arabic, there are various spellings available.
[name_f]Nyx[/name_f] - “[name_m]Night[/name_m]” in Greek
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] - “[name_f]Star[/name_f]” in Persian
My favourites: [name_u]Orion[/name_u] & [name_f]Diana[/name_f] / [name_u]Orion[/name_u] & Aretmis
This also reminds me of [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]. Or [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_f]Diana[/name_f], depends if the story is more “Greek” or “[name_m]Roman[/name_m].”
The girl could be called [name_f]Monday[/name_f] because [name_f]Monday[/name_f] comes from the meaning moon day
For the boy I found the name Antinanco meaning ‘eagle of the sun’.
