help!

hi berries! I’m new here, but I have been browsing the forum and I am LOVING the atmosphere around here. DH and I just found out we are expecting #1! We are very excited! We have a very defined short list for boys, but when it comes to girls names, I am finding that I am so picky. I like names outside of the Top 100, uncommon but not unusual. For a girl, we would like the middle name to be [name]Jayne[/name] after my sister (prn [name]Jane[/name] - sister’s is prn [name]Janie[/name]). I am also a fan of the boys names for girls trend, but not married to it! I love names like [name]Annaliese[/name] and [name]Evangeline[/name], but we have a 3 syllable Italian last name, so I worry about what a mouthful all of it would be together.

Here are some of the names on our list:

[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Annaliese[/name]
[name]Dylan[/name]
[name]Eliot[/name]
[name]Emerie[/name]/[name]Emery[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Everly[/name]
Merit/[name]Marit[/name]
[name]Presley[/name]

If it helps, here are some of our boy names:
[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Atticus[/name]
[name]Edison[/name]

I know that our list is all over the place! Can anyone suggest more names that we might like since I haven’t had a single one jump out at me that I am head over heels in love with? Boys names were so easy! Thank you so much in advance!!

[name]Annabel[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this but I prefer [name]Annabelle[/name]
[name]Annaliese[/name] - I like this one too but I prefer [name]Annabel[/name]/[name]Annabelle[/name]
[name]Dylan[/name] - This is too boyish for me
[name]Eliot[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Eliot[/name] for girls  but I prefer the spelling [name]Elliott[/name] because it looks more feminine to me
[name]Emerie[/name]/[name]Emery[/name] - reminds me of [name]Emory[/name] boards
[name]Evangeline[/name] - I like [name]Evangeline[/name], its very sophisticated
[name]Everly[/name] - NMS
Merit/[name]Marit[/name] - sounds too much like merit badge to me
[name]Presley[/name] - I like this but I like some of your other favorites

I think that with a long name and your long last name could be done, but pair it with a short middle name like [name]Faith[/name], [name]Hope[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Ann[/name], [name]Kate[/name] or something like that

Good [name]Luck[/name]

[name]Annabel[/name]- I love [name]Annabel[/name]. I think it’s a perfect name. Great nickname potential. Sweet, classic, feminine, but strong. I really like it with [name]Jayne[/name].
[name]Annaliese[/name]-I also really like [name]Annaliese[/name], but I don’t think it flows as well with [name]Jayne[/name] as [name]Annabel[/name] does.
[name]Dylan[/name]- I actually like [name]Dylan[/name] for a girl, but in the middle name spot. [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Dylan[/name] really works for me. It adds balance to ultra-feminine names, to me. But [name]Dylan[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] doesn’t work for me. I don’t like the flow, and it feels like an abundance of Y’s.
[name]Eliot[/name]- I think [name]Elliot[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] could really work for you. I do think it needs the extra “L” in there, and I think you need to be open to nickname options if you’re going to use it. [name]Elle[/name], or [name]Elli[/name], to feminize it. I think it needs that option. Otherwise, I’d keep it in the middle name spot.
[name]Emerie[/name]/[name]Emery[/name]- [name]Emery[/name] is just okay for me. The “ie” spelling feels a little too trendy/made up to me, so I’d stick with the “y” ending. You could do [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] with [name]Emmie[/name] or [name]Emme[/name] or even [name]Em[/name] for a nickname, but I actually prefer [name]Ellery[/name] with [name]Elli[/name] or [name]Elle[/name] for a nickname. I don’t [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Emery[/name], but it’s cute. I’m just more partial to other names on your list.
[name]Evangeline[/name]- I love [name]Evangeline[/name]. I think it’s beautiful, classic, timeless, and underused. It’s stunning. Evengeline [name]Jayne[/name] works for me.
[name]Everly[/name]- I really don’t like [name]Everly[/name]. I know three people who’ve used it this year, and it just feels hipster/trendy/like you’re trying too hard, to me.
Merit/[name]Marit[/name]- I like [name]Marit[/name], but I don’t [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Marit[/name]. And [name]Marit[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] feels a little short to me.
[name]Presley[/name]- [name]Presley[/name] is cute, but not my favorite.

Other thoughts- [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] with [name]Charli[/name] for a nickname? I think [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] has perfect flow. I know it’s a little popular, but it’s SO classic. And it’s a feminine name with a unisex nickname, so you’re kind of giving her options. [name]Luella[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] with [name]Lu[/name] for a nickname? Another feminine name with a unisex nickname. And [name]Luella[/name] is different without being weird. [name]Alexa[/name]/[name]Alexis[/name]/[name]Alexandra[/name]/[name]Alexandria[/name] etc. with [name]Lex[/name] or [name]Alex[/name] for a nickname? [name]Hallie[/name](pronounced [name]Hal[/name]-ee NOT Hay-lee)[name]Jayne[/name] and call her [name]Hal[/name]? [name]Vivienne[/name]/[name]Vivian[/name] nickname [name]Viv[/name], [name]Vinni[/name], [name]Vivi[/name]? [name]Francesca[/name] with the nickname [name]Frankie[/name]? [name]Georgia[/name] with [name]Gigi[/name], [name]Georgie[/name], [name]George[/name] for a nickname?

Or Unisex names with feminine nicknames like- [name]Cameron[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] [name]Cami[/name]? [name]Cam[/name]? [name]Ellington[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] with [name]Elli[/name]? [name]Elle[/name]? [name]Ella[/name]? [name]Evan[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] with [name]Eve[/name], [name]Eva[/name], or [name]Evie[/name] for a nickname? Maybe [name]Everly[/name] with [name]Evie[/name] or [name]Ever[/name] or [name]Eve[/name] or even [name]Eva[/name] for a nickname? [name]Delaney[/name] nickname [name]Lanie[/name] or [name]Lane[/name]? Doesn’t really work with [name]Jayne[/name], but… [name]Miller[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] and call her [name]Millie[/name]? [name]Cora[/name]/[name]Coralie[/name]/[name]Coraline[/name]/Corazon/[name]Corrine[/name] nickname [name]Cori[/name]? [name]Madeline[/name]/Madeliene/[name]Matilda[/name] nickname [name]Maddie[/name] or [name]Mattie[/name]? [name]Quinton[/name] nickname [name]Quinn[/name]? [name]Roma[/name]/[name]Romina[/name]/[name]Romilly[/name] with [name]Romi[/name]/[name]Romy[/name] for a nickname? [name]Katherine[/name] with [name]Kit[/name] or [name]Kat[/name]? [name]Cassandra[/name] with [name]Cass[/name], [name]Casey[/name], [name]Cassie[/name]?

I also like [name]Nina[/name], [name]Piper[/name], [name]Thea[/name], [name]Quinn[/name], [name]Reese[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Neve[/name], [name]Sasha[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Morgan[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name] for you.

I know I’m probably way off on most of these names, but I was trying to come of with a really diverse list of options.
Good luck!

[name]Welcome[/name] and congrats on your pregnancy! Girls’ names are pretty and lovely, but it’s so hard

I love [name]Annabel[/name] from your list. It would have been on my list if [name]Isabella[/name] wasn’t my number one favorite. I think [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] would be great! Honoring your sister is so sweet and the name sounds feminine and lovely with right amount of spunk.

[name]Jasper[/name]‘s my favorite name from your boys’ name list and I think [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Jasper[/name] are so sweet together. Good luck!

Thanks for all of your input! I truly appreciate it!

I do love [name]Annabel[/name] but I worry about the popularity of -belle/bella names. I have a name that was not too common ([name]JoAnna[/name]) and I always liked it that I was the only one in my class.

[name]Eliot[/name]/[name]Elliot[/name] I do [name]LOVE[/name]. It’s different, and while I’m not big on the [name]Ellie[/name] nn, I do love the [name]Elle[/name] or even [name]Ella[/name] possibility.

[name]Marit[/name]/Merit is kind of a new discovery for us. I didn’t realise until I looked it up that it’s an international form of [name]Margaret[/name], which is my grandmothers fn and sisters mn. I love the nn [name]Maggie[/name], but feel that [name]Margaret[/name] is still a bit dated, at least for us.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!! There are quite a few that I am going to be bringing to DH. Our styles are so different that it makes me want to pull my hair out a bit, LOL!

[name]Annabel[/name]: yay! possible nickname [name]Anna[/name]
[name]Annaliese[/name]: nay.
[name]Dylan[/name]: yay! have a friend with this name: her sister calls her dill pickle:)
[name]Eliot[/name]: nay
[name]Emerie[/name]/[name]Emery[/name]: Yay! The ie makes it sound more french and more girly, depending on what your looking for. Cute variation to [name]Emily[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]: nay.
[name]Everly[/name]: nay.
Merit/marit: I like it better spelled [name]Merritt[/name]. nay.
[name]Presley[/name]: nay.

[name]Ezra[/name]: sounds too girly for me. nay.
[name]Jasper[/name]: YAY!!! I love this name
[name]Atticus[/name]: yay
[name]Edison[/name]: cute nm eddie yay!

I think [name]Jayne[/name] prn [name]Janie[/name] is so clever in the middle because she can choose to prn it [name]Jayne[/name] if she wants, it’s like two mns in one : D.

[name]Annabel[/name]: [name]Lovely[/name] and good with [name]Jayne[/name], absolutely.
[name]Anneliese[/name]: I love this but pp is right, [name]Annabel[/name] is nicer with [name]Jayne[/name]
[name]Dylan[/name]: it’s nice, but if you do this, you’re committing to boyish names for future girls too, OR, to giving them very different names.
[name]Elliot[/name]: I like it on girls, I agree with an extra L though. It’s a stretch but I could also see the cute nn [name]Lottie[/name] for [name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Emery[/name]: This is fine. [name]Future[/name] sibs would be sth ambiguous but like Merit, maybe. I agree with a pp, I prefer [name]Ellery[/name]. It is rhyme with [name]Jayne[/name] prn [name]Janie[/name] but nice with [name]Jayne[/name] prn [name]Jane[/name].
[name]Evangeline[/name] - I honestly think this is too much, even with a short ln. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Evelyn[/name]? That was historically a male name.
[name]Everly[/name]: I also don’t care for this, plus it rhymes with [name]Jayne[/name]. Again, [name]Evelyn[/name]?
Merit: [name]Marit[/name] is the [name]Margaret[/name] variant but I think no one will ever get it. Merit is nice. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Margo/name or [name]Maren[/name]?
[name]Presley[/name]: feels passe, no.

[name]Ezra[/name]: I like this but if you use a boyish girls name avoid this. This name is all boy to me but nonetheless, it does end in -a.
[name]Jasper[/name]: Great choice. Agree with pp this will pair best with [name]Annabel[/name] in the future.
[name]Atticus[/name]: No, I think this is too much and will pass its prime soon.
[name]Edison[/name]: I like this and also like the nn [name]Ned[/name] for it. I think [name]Edison[/name] and Merit would pair well.

All best!

Well our daughter is Jayne Elizabeth and she goes by Janey or Jayne or Sis. Most Jayne’s are middles though and with your list I like with Everly or Emerie.
