Hendrix?

Hello berries!
All of you were so helpful in coming up with my sons name so I wanted to run a few names by you. Because my son was named after [name]Jazz[/name] musicians [name]Thelonious[/name] Monk and Lighting Hopkins we feel that we want a future son to have a musician or artist name. Any suggestions welcome. I am NOT currently pregnant just TTC.

[name]Hendrix[/name]
[name]Jagger[/name]- i like Jag but feel that its too common
Mattise
Cezanne- too feminine?
[name]Picasso[/name]- too much?
Rivera

thanx [name]Meryl[/name]

ps hello [name]Jill[/name]!

In a world where [name]Presley[/name] is a reasonably common girls’ name, why should any of these be “too much”?

Most peoples’ tastes in this regard seem to be rock stars and other 20th century singers and musicians. That explains why [name]Jagger[/name] and even [name]Hendrix[/name] are more usual sightings than the others.

I’m not a rock person. My tastes would run to the artists, and not necessarily the most obvious. If I were seriously considering this sort of name, [name]Tanguy[/name] (how do you pronounce it, anyway?) or Kandinsky.

Cezanne- too feminine? Wouldn’t have thought that if you didn’t point it out.

I’m a fan of [name]Hendrix[/name], in fact, it is on my list. I like that if the child is more conservative, he can always go by [name]Henry[/name].

For other art-inspired names, I like
[name]Calder[/name]
[name]Lautrec[/name]
Rothko
[name]Lucien[/name]
Miro
[name]Auguste[/name]
Wyeth

We already have a Mir” and we just [name]LOVE[/name] his name. I also was thinking Rothko but thought it would sound too matchy having 2 boys with strong O ending names. thanx for your input.

[name]Hendrix[/name] and [name]Jagger[/name] are awesome

What are your other childrens’ name combinations, if you don’t mind me asking?

[name]Lila[/name] (pronounced lee la) [name]Aveline[/name] (ave leen) and Mir” Thelon!us L!ghtn!ng. [name]Lila[/name] means [name]Lilac[/name] flower in spanish and Mir” is named after the artist [name]Joan[/name] Mir”. We like nature names or artist/musician names.

I like [name]Jagger[/name] but i think its getting too common and its almost too cool sounding. thanx for your input.

[name]Calder[/name] looks like exactly the sort of name that could take off in popularity. Not because of the artist, but just because of the sound.
Miro and Wyeth - So interestingly not [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Wyatt[/name].

calder it too much like colder for me but i do see its appeal.

Those are such beautiful names! A rather obvious but underused artist name that I have always loved is [name]Otis[/name] ([name]Redding[/name]) - I sort of like it paired with [name]Hendrix[/name] despite the similar endings. [name]Louis[/name] ([name]Armstrong[/name]) and [name]Oscar[/name] ([name]Peterson[/name]) also spring to mind, though they are most likely too popular for your tastes.

[name]Meryl[/name]!!! [name]How[/name]'ve you been? [name]How[/name]'s Miro? ([name]Just[/name] a great name!) And [name]Lila[/name]? I love so many of these as middle names, but I’m not sure about some of them as first names.

Because [name]Hendrix[/name] is so associated with [name]Jimi[/name], I’m wondering if [name]Hendrix[/name] with your last name will make people think of [name]Jimi[/name]'s coffin? (Because [name]Hendrix[/name] ends in an s sound, I guess it sounds like a possessive to me, like [name]Hendrick[/name]'s.) I think that Cezanne would be a really cool middle (I’m not sure that a boy would like to have a first name that ends with “anne,” but you never know!), as would the others.

I know it ends in an A, but I do like Rivera as a first name. Then again, I think of [name]Geraldo[/name]. Hmm…

More you may like (Sorry for repeats):

[name]Ansel[/name]
[name]Amadeus[/name]
[name]Amadeo[/name] (Modigliani…Then again, it has a matching O ending)
[name]Calder[/name] (Then again, I think some of the others sound better with your last name…)
[name]Cristobal[/name]
[name]Calloway[/name]
Courbet
[name]Davis[/name]
[name]Eldridge[/name]
[name]Ellington[/name]
[name]Fletcher[/name] (for [name]Fletcher[/name] [name]Henderson[/name])
[name]Laszlo[/name] (Oops! Another O ending…I was going to suggest [name]Kenzo[/name], too, until I remembered Miro!)
[name]Raphael[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name] (for [name]Van[/name] Gogh)
[name]Willem[/name] (for [name]Willem[/name] de Kooning)

It’s so good to see you!

I have no doubt that you’ll be able to find a name every bit as cool as Miro’s!

Have a good night!

My babies are doing great! thanx for asking. It took us [name]WAY[/name] longer than I expected to choose Mir”'s name so i just wanted to get a jump start on it.

I see what you mean about Hendix w our last name. We would be using the name [name]Hendrix[/name] because of [name]Jimi[/name] [name]Hendrix[/name] so we dont mind the association. I agree with you about Cezanne it sounds nice but written down with the “anne” ending its too feminine. I like Courbet but I was pronouncing it CORE-[name]BET[/name] but the correct pronunciation is Core- bay which again is too girlie for me. So far I am liking [name]Matisse[/name] the best. Thanx for your input.

Also jill my partner is stuck on the name [name]Clementine[/name] for a girl, I like it but I’m not sure if I like it enough and i feel like it does not “GO” at all with y other kids names. I asked him what he likes about the name and he say he just likes saying it. I fear it will become very popular. Any suggestions of names that have the feel of clementine but are more exotic? We like really really girly names. I love magnolia but its too similar to [name]Lila[/name]. [name]Zinnia[/name] is my front runner right now.
thanx [name]Meryl[/name]

I’m glad the babies are doing well!

I love [name]Clementine[/name]! I see what you mean about the exotic vibe, though. ([name]Even[/name] so, I think I can still see [name]Clementine[/name] with their names.) I think [name]Zinnia[/name] is great!! That’s such a good idea, [name]Meryl[/name]! Random thought, but I love how you pronounce [name]Lila[/name] as “[name]Lee[/name]-la”! While [name]Lila[/name] (lye-la) sounds vintage, [name]Lila[/name] (lee-la) sounds exotic.

Some more names you may like:

[name]Arabella[/name] (Oops…La ending like [name]Lila[/name])
[name]Azalea[/name] (Oops…I forgot about its similiarity to [name]Lee[/name]-la)
[name]Acacia[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Araminta[/name]
[name]Bryony[/name]
[name]Clementina[/name] (more exotic than [name]Clementine[/name])
[name]Cassia[/name]
[name]Calandra[/name]
[name]Chiara[/name]
[name]Delfina[/name]
[name]Ginevra[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name] (Reminds me of [name]Clementine[/name]…Has the same ending sound as your last name, though…)
[name]Jacinta[/name]
[name]Raphaela[/name]
[name]Valentina[/name]

Not exotic, but some names that remind me of [name]Clementine[/name]:

[name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Amabel[/name]
[name]Coraline[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Rosaline[/name]

(And of course, other vintage names like [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Annabel/name, etc., remind me of [name]Clementine[/name], but I know they’re not what you’re looking for…)

Take care!

Thanx jill, very good suggestions. [name]Just[/name] for fun what would you name a brother or sister for [name]Lila[/name] and Mir”? Only restriction is that it can not be in the top 1000 most pop names. When my friends are pregnant I always tell them what i would name their baby.

[name]Just[/name] for fun? Hmm…Well, the lee-la pronunciation makes the name seem exotic to me, so I think I’d go with:

[name]Lila[/name], Miro (I can’t type accents for some reason!), and:

[name]Bryony[/name]
[name]Cassia[/name]
[name]Jacinda[/name]

I still have to think about the boys’ names, because most end in Os or are less popular names in the top 1000. Hmm…

[name]Raphael[/name] (Oops! Top 1000…)
[name]Boaz[/name] ([name]Just[/name] popped into my mind)

(I’m still thinking about boys’ names to meet your artist/musician requirement…)

I really love [name]Zinnia[/name] from your list, [name]Meryl[/name]! I love your style!

Take care!

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name] but my partner doesnt!

[name]Jill[/name] i really like [name]Cassia[/name] but a friend of mine named her daughter [name]Cassia[/name] so its out. [name]Boaz[/name] I like it! what do you think of Vedder after eddie Vedder from pearl jam?

Wonder might be too much of a word name.

I loveeee [name]Hendrix[/name], and am considering it for myself when the time comes, possibly as a mn though, paired w/ [name]Easton[/name] (no rock reference there)… What about [name]Gibson[/name] or Strato (after the guitar that all of these heroes play?!?) thats another one that I’m considering as i dig the music theme. Others that I love:

[name]Gibson[/name]
[name]Fitzgerald[/name] (after [name]Ella[/name]… for a boy though)
[name]Coltrane[/name] (obvious)
[name]Cadence[/name] (music term… for a girl)
[name]Marley[/name] (after [name]Bob[/name]… for boy or girl)
Tosh (after [name]Peter[/name]… prob for a boy)
[name]Joplin[/name] (not totally sold on the clunkiness but love the reference)
[name]Mick[/name] (rather than [name]Jagger[/name])

I could keep going… but I’ll spare you

I forgot one of my most favorite:

[name]Young[/name] (after Mr. [name]Neil[/name]…)

Oh i like [name]Fitzgerald[/name] nn fitz and tosh! thanx
