We have two wonderful sons named [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Peter[/name] and hope to soon complete our family with a third addition. These are a few of the names I’m thinking of…ideally we’d love something not trendy and simply delightfully old and above all else classic, easily pronounced, and easily spelt
I’d also love to pay tribute to our families which provide the following names. Girls: [name]Kay[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Nancy[/name], [name]Louise[/name], [name]Mae[/name]. Boys: [name]Garnet[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name]. Likely use one as a middle name?!?
[name]Love[/name] to hear your thoughts and other suggestions. What pairs best? What combinations do you like best? [name]Henry[/name], [name]Peter[/name] & ???
[name]Henry[/name], [name]Peter[/name], and [name]George[/name] was the first thing that came to mind. My second thought was [name]Edmund[/name] or [name]Edward[/name].
Off your list I love [name]Calvin[/name] with [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Peter[/name]. Almost any name off your girls list would work well. My favorites are [name]Cecily[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], and [name]Josephine[/name].
[name]Henry[/name] and [name]Peter[/name] are great!
From your girl’s list, I think [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Cecily[/name], and [name]Cecilia[/name] are all lovely and go very well with [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Peter[/name]. [name]Louisa[/name] is one of my favorite names! [name]Constance[/name] is still too frumpy for me, and it doesn’t really compliment [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Peter[/name]. [name]Meredith[/name] is way more modern, and has a very harsh sound. I love [name]Susanna[/name], but only spelled this way (and [name]Susannah[/name]).
[name]Frederick[/name] is very nice with [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Peter[/name]. [name]Theodore[/name] fits better stylistically, but I’m not sure about the repeating R endings. [name]Calvin[/name] is nice but for some reason doesn’t have as much of a classic feel as [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Peter[/name]. All three choices are fine, though.
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] (has so many great nn options!)
[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]
the first name that came to mind when I opened this was [name]Henry[/name], [name]Peter[/name], and [name]Owen[/name]
Of your names:
I like [name]Meredith[/name] and [name]Susana[/name]. The boy names- [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Calvin[/name] seem to match the style. I think [name]Thedore[/name] feels a bit out of place to me.
Thank you everyone - we appreciate the feedback and great suggestions!
Ironically one of our mom’s is [name]Kay[/name] and the other [name]Katherine[/name]. So we’re contemplating using [name]Katherine[/name] with nn of [name]Kay[/name]. However if I can convince my hubs I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Louisa[/name] which also gives a nod to a mom. Is [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Mae[/name] too reminiscent of [name]Louisa[/name] [name]May[/name] [name]Alcott[/name]?
Also, we contemplated [name]Simon[/name] as a few of you have suggested, but we thought the whole biblical [name]Simon[/name] [name]Peter[/name] connection was too much (basically one of the apostles names was [name]Simon[/name] and God renamed him [name]Peter[/name]) What do you think, is it silly to have a [name]Peter[/name] and a [name]Simon[/name] in the same family?
[name]Love[/name] the suggestions of…
[name]Thomas[/name], [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Clara[/name]
So any ideas on how to use [name]Aubrey[/name], [name]Garnet[/name] for a boy? These names are sadly unisex now and we really prefer clearly male names. Any suggestions?
Maybe you could just use the first initial from [name]Aubrey[/name] or [name]Garnet[/name]. Or did the family members have any nn or pet names they used? You could always use something else about them, such as a street they lived on, city they were born in, birth month, last name (if diff. from yours) or something along those lines?
[name]Aubrey[/name] - could you use just [name]Rey[/name] as a middlename instead of the full [name]Aubrey[/name]. Or how about [name]Auburn[/name]. Or you could spell it [name]Aubry[/name] or [name]Aubury[/name] as suggested by nameberry. Those seem a bit more masculine.
[name]Garnet[/name] - Maybe shorten to [name]Gary[/name] or change a bit to [name]Garrett[/name]?
For a girl, I think… [name]Henry[/name], [name]Peter[/name], & [name]Susana[/name] (or [name]Susannah[/name]) sounds wonderful! My second favorite set would be [name]Henry[/name], [name]Peter[/name], & [name]Louisa[/name].
For a boy, I like [name]Henry[/name], [name]Peter[/name], & [name]Nicholas[/name]… [name]Edward[/name]… [name]Charles[/name]… or [name]Samuel[/name].
