Hillary?

Is it too outdated? I am at Disney World and I heard someone yelling for a Little girl named Hillary. This is the first time I’ve heard of a child with the name so I’ve never considered it before. I don’t mind the Clinton association.

I don’t think [name_u]Hillary[/name_u] was ever popular enough to be dated. I like the name (though I prefer the [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] spelling).

I agree with the above…it wasn’t ever a trendy name so I don’t think it can be dated. It’s actually my name so I’m especially partial to it. I like the double ll spelling in names…for some reason it is more aesthetically pleasing to me. I get a lot of compliments on my name and have never been bullied because of it.

Makes me think of [name_u]Whitney[/name_u]. Pretty in a brisk, preppy way, a little bit bland feeling, a little bit 80s or 90s kind of, but really not dated at all cause it just never had that boom. I think the [name_m]Clinton[/name_m] association is polarizing to some, but whatever your political leanings it just gives it an “older woman in a pantsuit” vibe. But either name could skew as really refreshing on a little girl!

I wouldn’t say it’s dated. Since it was never in the top 100. That last time it peeked was in the 1970’s at 424 so it should be ready for a comeback soon. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a little [name_u]Hillary[/name_u]/[name_u]Hilary[/name_u] because my generation grew up watching [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] [name_m]McGuire[/name_m]. [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] [name_u]Duff[/name_u] stars as her and now [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] is a pretty decent roll model still. She has a son named [name_u]Luca[/name_u] which I think is adorable. Anyways I think if you like [name_u]Hillary[/name_u] than you should consider it because it’s unique enough and most likely our children won’t have the same image as we might do on names.
Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!

I think [name_u]Hillary[/name_u] is a lovely choice – it has lots of charm, class and yet a cute vibe to it. I can’t recall ever meeting a child named [name_u]Hillary[/name_u]. I would love to!

I know someone in her late 20s named [name_f]Hillory[/name_f] (yes, with that spelling).

I don’t think the name was ever very trendy. It’s always kind of flown beneath the radar.

I like [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] (I also prefer 1 L to 2). I don’t know whether or not the association with [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] [name_m]Clinton[/name_m] would come up or not, but there are other Hilarys people know of (like [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] [name_u]Duff[/name_u], [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] Swank). I don’t think it’s a one person name.

My name is [name_u]Hilary[/name_u]. [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]. I grew up with a few others.

I love it. It’s sophisticated and classic.

Thank you! It means cheerful and merry. I am probably the most cheerful person I know. Almost too much so haha!

I love it too. For centuries it was an exclusively male name (women were called [name_f]Hilaria[/name_f]) given mainly in honor of St [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] of Poitiers. I also love the medieval [name_m]French[/name_m] variant, [name_f]Alair[/name_f]/ [name_f]Allaire[/name_f], and the modern Italian [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]. Like others said, it’s enjoyed quiet steady use, and only in the last century did it switch over to a female name, which I think helps perpetuate the modest but classy vibe.
