I was reading a bio on [name]Joaquin[/name] [name]Pheonix[/name] and just love his siblings names- as well as his… and thought Id share them as well as ask for more “hippie” names!!
Great topic! [name]Summer[/name] is one of my favorite names. Here are some others I can think of:
[name]Skye[/name]
[name]Canyon[/name]
[name]Daisy[/name] ([name]Flower[/name] Child)
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
I really love hippy names for girls!
I am waiting for a suprise in august but the name I have picked for a girl is [name]Summer[/name] [name]Blossom[/name] (great grandma was [name]Blossom[/name])
I also absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]November[/name] [name]Rain[/name], and [name]Dahlia[/name]
And of course, [name]Pheonix[/name] is a great ‘hippie’ kinda name
It didn’t hit me until right now that “[name]Leaf[/name]” is the last four letters of [name]Rafael[/name] backwards. Duh! Oh boy this is going to make me search for other such backwards nn’s with in a name.
PS - I think [name]Phoenix[/name] is a pretty awesome name.
I was almost named [name]Sunshine[/name] but instead have the middle of [name]Dawn[/name]. [name]Aurora[/name] would have been an ultra-cool alternative.
I’m in love with the name [name]Indigo[/name] (hi [name]Indigo[/name] way up there).
I think pretty much any nature name could also swing as a hippie name.
I wasn’t really a hippie, but in my teen years, I went through a phase. It was the 80s and tie-dye t-shirts really made a big comeback, and I was learning about the music from the 60s, and it’s still some of my favorite.
I wanted to change my name to [name]Harmony[/name]. Some of the lists of names I made were quite hippie-oriented to me, and I think some of the taste lingered into my early 20s.
So:
[name]Harmony[/name]
[name]Justice[/name]
[name]Rain[/name]
[name]Echo[/name]
[name]Ocean[/name]
[name]Summer[/name]
[name]Blue[/name]
[name]Cloud[/name]
[name]Meadow[/name]
I think a lot of current word names come off this idea, as well as some of the non-traditional flower names. It gets some legitimacy in the old concept of virtue names and traditional appeal of flower names without being the same old-fashioned names, as well as name meanings themselves. If you pick a name that obscures a beautiful, uplifting meaning because it’s in ancient languages, filtered through centuries of being translated across Europe and imported as a fashionable name, why not just simplify things and name them in English? It’s so real. It’s not my taste anymore, but I think it’s great.
I know a hippy who canged his name to freedom. I also know twin girls names [name]Love[/name] and [name]Mercy[/name] i always thought those were cute names. other possible hippy names: [name]Lotus[/name], [name]Lark[/name], [name]Paz[/name],[name]Pax[/name], [name]Shalom[/name], [name]Paloma[/name], [name]Dove[/name], [name]Sparrow[/name]…
I love the name [name]Harmony[/name] and strongly considered it for my daughter’s name. I don’t think hippie names quite fit my personality/lifestyle, but I do love these:
[name]Harmony[/name]
[name]Autumn[/name]
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Meadow[/name]
[name]Journey[/name]
and I also really like these
Wind
[name]Blossom[/name]
[name]Lyric[/name]
Larkspur
[name]Summer[/name]
Tigerlily
[name]River[/name]
[name]Rain[/name]
[name]Star[/name]
[name]Love[/name]
[name]Raven[/name]
[name]Robin[/name]
I knew a girl named [name]Hypatia[/name] whose parents were hippies. I think they said it means peace. I also grew up with a girl named [name]Sunny[/name]. Her parents weren’t hippies, but I could see [name]Sunny[/name] as a hippie name.
[name]Joey[/name] [name]Lawrence[/name] just named his daughter [name]Liberty[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I also read that chef [name]Jamie[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] has 3 daughters, [name]Poppy[/name] [name]Honey[/name], [name]Daisy[/name] Boo and [name]Petal[/name] [name]Blossom[/name] [name]Rainbow[/name]. All could fit into the “hippy” category.
what, to you, defines a “hippy” name… an earthy name??? just wondering what you all think, I know alot of people say [name]Nicole[/name] [name]Richie[/name] chose hippy-like names for her children… [name]Harlow[/name] & [name]Sparrow[/name]… thoughts?
I absolutely love this name but will never be able to use it as my husband hates it Funny, I’m not really into hippie names but [name]Clover[/name] is one that sounds classy to me…love it
