Historian Character Name

I have a fantasy series being planned out at the moment, and in the second book there’s a historian character of sorts. He basically writes a book about a witch who was believed to have cursed the kingdom when she was arrested after part of it was set on fire in the middle of the night ten years before the story’s start. The book gets sent from Eldina to Earth, where Ellie – the main character – finds it just before she turns thirteen. He uses the book to get a message to Ellie, which she ignores at first, but eventually gives in.
Anyway, I can’t think of a name for this character. I want it to be fairly unusual since he’s a resident of a magical world, but unusual boy names aren’t really my specialty.

I think some sort of really old sounding name like [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] could be cool!

I’ve mentioned this in several Writer’s Corner topics, but it’s still true. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite thing to do to create fantasy names is look up attribute words on Google Translate and see what they are in Latin.

For example…
Your character wrote a book. The word book in Latin is “liber” which could be turned into Libber, Lyber, or Libar.
“Adnales” is the Latin word for annals, chronicle or record. You could use it as-is, or make his name Adnal, Adnyls, or something similar.
“Fabula” and “fabella” are both Latin words for fable or tale. He could be Fabulo, Fabello, or Fabelli.

It can be really fun to look up words and see what’s there. Good luck!
