Holiday for a girl!

Let me introduce you guys to one of my all-time favorite girls names. It may sound weird at first, but I love the name [name]Holiday[/name] for a girl! It flows nicely. It has a great meaning (“holy day”). Would work well for a baby during the holiday season. Fabulous nickname of [name]Holly[/name]. And positive connotations like “[name]Happy[/name] Holidays!” and “A jolly [name]Holiday[/name]!”. I’ve fallen head over heels for this moniker after finding a post last summer on Swistle about a couple with a daughter named [name]Holiday[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name].

Thoughts? Please don’t be too rude. I really love this name.

I quite like it actually, I’ve contemplated putting it on my list to honor Ms. [name]Billie[/name] [name]Holiday[/name] (which is a huge reason for liking it). I will say I’ve come to not like [name]Holly[/name] as much, [name]Daisy[/name] would be a cute alternative nn though. :slight_smile:

I find it to be kind of childish and I would honestly have a hard time working with someone named [name]Holiday[/name] as it seems to childish to me.

I think it’s really cute. It’s not my style, but I can see it working on a real person. [name]Holly[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name] are cute nicknames.

[name]Love[/name] it but then again my top runner is [name]Sunday[/name]. Some days I get lots of love in here for it and some days I get lots of pleas to avoid it. At some point you’ve got to know what u love and leave others out of it. But you’ve got my stamp of approval- I am of the opinion that once the name has a real person to attach it to, the name becomes the person and it doesn’t seem strange.

I love [name]Holiday[/name]! It makes me think of [name]Holliday[/name] “[name]Holly[/name]” Golightly and the actress [name]Holliday[/name] [name]Grainger[/name]. I wouldn’t feel comfortable using it personally because it’s the surname of a friend, but I would be thrilled to see it used.

[name]Holiday[/name] as a fn is not bad at all. It has an awesome meaning :slight_smile:

I’m quite conflicted about [name]Holiday[/name]/[name]Holliday[/name]! On the one hand, I absolutely adore it! I love the sound and meaning, and just think it’s such a happy, sunshiny name. My favourite nn’s are [name]Liddie[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name].
At the same time, I think it might be more GP than real life pick for me. My concern is in terms of resumes and the versatility of this name. I’m not sure how it would be accepted in real life?

Hmm…while I can picture a cute little girl with this name, I have a hard time envisioning being able to take a grown woman with this name seriously…sorry :frowning:

I love it! I was going to put it on my list, but I decided I liked [name]Holly[/name] more.

[name]How[/name]'s this- I actually know someone named [name]Holiday[/name]- she is my cousin’s teenage daughter. I have to say she has struggled with this name growing up even though I personally love how it sounds. Her peers tease her constantly, the worst is when they call her “whore-a-day” so mean. I dont think she dislikes her name persay, but it certainly hasn’t been easy for her either.

Yes that is terrible. But in retrospect, couldn’t people find something to tease about any name?

Thanks for all of your opinions, both good and bad. I’m definitely keeping [name]Holiday[/name], but if you think I’m crazy, consider that I’m only sixteen and naming actual children is still distant.
