Hollis

What do you think of [name]Hollis[/name] for a boy?

The neighbor across the street from my parents (90 something yrs old) is named [name]Hollis[/name]. I like it the way I like [name]Holden[/name] and Holter. It is almost borderline girly though since it’s so close to [name]Holly[/name] and [name]Gladys[/name]. It really intrigues me.

It’s Christmastime in [name]Hollis[/name], Queens mom’s cooking chicken and collard greens!

Of course this is only a regional problem. [name]Hollis[/name] may work fine where you live.

I think it sounds feminine.

I love the name [name]Hollis[/name]! Before this post i thought that i really liked [name]Hollis[/name] for a girl, but you know what? I think [name]Hollis[/name] is much more refined and cool on a little guy. If you named a little girl [name]Hollis[/name] she would no doubt get the nn [name]Holly[/name], which is dated. For a boy, a little Holl ([name]Hall[/name]) running around would be awesome!! Hmmm…i really really really like this on a boy!

It actually is sort of reminding me of the sudden popularity of [name]Valentine[/name] nn [name]Val[/name] for boys. At first glance it appears super feminine, but in looking at it closer it is actually really masculine.

You gave e something to think about!

I love [name]Hollis[/name]. It just has a great vintage quality to it. [name]Shame[/name] it isn’t used more today. I do understand the more feminine vibe that some people get off of it though, so I would advise using a very traditional masculine name in the middle. ie, [name]Hollis[/name] [name]William[/name], [name]Hollis[/name] [name]Christopher[/name], etc.

I can see its appeal on both genders. I do like it for a boy, although it’s never been a favorite. I do agree that [name]Hall[/name]/Holl would be a cool nn!

I like it. I think it would age well. I see it as a masculine name, though I can see it becoming (or being) gender neutral.

I like [name]Hollis[/name] for a little boy. It’s has a relaxed down-home feel to it, and that tends to be my style.

I like it! I can definitely see it working really well actually. The only negative I can think of is that it makes me think of Hollister, the clothing brand, but that is not really a negative.

I like it, but I prefer Holleder

I like it!
