Holly Vs Hollie

If you were trying to honour the surname, Hoôle. Which spelling would you go for? And can [name_u]Holly[/name_u] still make sense to honour Hoôle? [name_u]Or[/name_u] is [name_f]Hollie[/name_f] better?
Lastly do you think [name_u]Holly[/name_u] can be used if the baby wasn’t born around [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] or the wintertime?
( This is a middle name option)
Thanks

Holly looks neater to me. I think they equally work well to honour the surname. [name_u]Holly[/name_u] can be used on anyone imo.

I think the spelling [name_f]Hollie[/name_f] works better to honor Hóóle because of the matching endings but [name_u]Holly[/name_u] works too.

And I know plenty of [name_u]Holly[/name_u]/Hollies and barely any of them are born around [name_u]Christmas[/name_u], and I don’t think the time of year had any influence on the ones that were born then, I think their parents just liked the name

Both make sense but [name_f]Hollie[/name_f] looks closer to the surname so I’d go with that.

I think [name_u]Holly[/name_u]/Hollie can be used all year round

I would go with [name_f]Hollie[/name_f] in this case as it’s an honor name, and it looks more like the name you’re trying to honor. And [name_f]Hollie[/name_f] can definitely be used anytime of the year.

If the surname is pronounced like holly, they both work just as well, and it is a matter of preference. If the similarity is more by looks, [name_f]Hollie[/name_f] may be a better choice. I do prefer [name_u]Holly[/name_u] due to the ease of spelling, but as it is a middle name it doesnt really matter. I think [name_u]Holly[/name_u] can be used for a baby born at any time of year

Since neither name option is an exact match for the surname, I would go with [name_u]Holly[/name_u] to honor it. It’s spelled like the word, which makes it a little easier to spell correctly, and it can work at any time of the year!
