It sounds pretty and original. You both love it so take that as a sign and go for it!
I much prefer the [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] spelling and like pp’s have said, I don’t think having that spelling would effect using nn [name_u]Wynn[/name_u] or [name_f]Wynnie[/name_f].
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is a beautiful name plus at first glance I though Elowyn said [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f]!
I do think you can call her [name_u]Wynn[/name_u]/[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] either way. But I also really like the Elowyn spelling. Very pretty name choice!
It’s unappealing on all levels
Thanks to everyone for the feedback!
Why must you change the spelling just to use [name_f]Wynnie[/name_f]? You could easily use [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and still use [name_f]Wynnie[/name_f].
I like the name, it’s classic and yet unique. No preference for one spelling over the other, I believe they are both correct. Actually, maybe I do lean towards Elowyn since I’m pretty sure that was the spelling used when I first encountered that name.
Either way, I wouldn’t worry about which spelling matches the nickname. It wouldn’t be a problem at all to go with [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] (if you want to) and call her [name_f]Wynnie[/name_f].
My personal preference though is to go with [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as a nickname.
