Title basically says it all just be as honest as you can.
Also would you ever use it?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think of it as trendy?
[name_m]How[/name_m] many Caitlins’ (and other spelling variations) do you know and what ages are they?
Which is your favourite spelling of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]?
Thanks in advance.
You don’t have to answer all the questions but it would help.
I think it’s sweet. I can’t use it because my niece is [name_f]Katie[/name_f] (just [name_f]Katie[/name_f], though I did suggest [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]!). She’s a tween.
I don’t think it’s trendy at all.if anything it’s dated…but I don’t mean that’s a bad thing. [name_m]Just[/name_m] the only [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]/[name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f]'s I know are my age (late 20s). I haven’t heard it used on a baby recently but I love it.I think it’s a classic name and super sweet and [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] is by far my fav spelling, the Irish way.
In my high school (which is a Catholic school) I know probably five Caitlins (and spelling variations thereof), and several girls I know have siblings named [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]. Around half the people in my school have Irish ancestry so it’s a very popular name.
I like the [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] spelling best.
I don’t mind the name. I know one person who spells it this way. She is in her late 20s. However I have known many [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f]/[name_f]Katelynn[/name_f]/[name_f]Catelynn[/name_f]'s etc. As for ages, I still hear on it kids…but I also knew a lot growing up. I don’t think I’ve ever really come across someone older than 35 with that name.
Also would you ever use it? No, my cousin is called [name_f]Katelin[/name_f].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think of it as trendy? Yes, because I’m from [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] I know lots of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]‘s.
[name_m]How[/name_m] many Caitlins’ (and other spelling variations) do you know and what ages are they? [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] 14, [name_f]Katelin[/name_f] 10, [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f] 16, [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] 3, [name_f]Katie[/name_f] 4, [name_f]Katelin[/name_f] 9.
Which is your favourite spelling of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]? Not to be bias but [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] or [name_f]Katelin[/name_f].
i like it a lot i think its cute. We are thinking of using it as a middle name because my mothers name is [name_f]Katalin[/name_f]( pronounced Kah-tah-lin ) which is the hungarian form of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f].
I do think its a bit dated thou but that could be a good thing since all kinds of dated names are making a come back
I don’t think it’s trendy now (but it was at one point). Most of the Caitlins I have met are around my age (mid/late 20s). My sister-in-law is named [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f]. I prefer the spelling [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] as it is the traditional Irish spelling (Ks aren’t used), but the name isn’t pronounced like [name_f]Kate[/name_f]-[name_u]Lynn[/name_u] in Irish. It’s Anglicized as [name_f]Cathleen[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]! I feel like in [name_u]America[/name_u], it’s dated, but internationally, it might be more along the lines of a modern classic? Especially in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]? I wouldn’t know for sure, but that’s the image I get. I like the American mispronunciation ([name_f]Kate[/name_f]-lyn), but I also love the traditional Irish pronunciation, which is more along the lines of [name_f]KAT[/name_f]-leen or KOIT-leen (at least, I think?). I think a little [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] these days would be quite refreshing. I think [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and even [name_f]Kat[/name_f] would be a cute/sweet nn for it. I like the idea of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]…
It’s a beautiful name, but I heard it so incessantly when I was growing up that I’m not sure I’m ready to appreciate it yet. I like [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] or [name_f]Cathleen[/name_f] better–same name, as thatkathryngirl said. In Call the Midwife an Irishwoman named her baby [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]/[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], and it was pronounced more like [name_f]Cat[/name_f]'leen. [name_f]Season[/name_f] 1 episodes 2 and 4, if you want to hear it. I couldn’t find a clip.
I wouldn’t use it. I know a million 20somethings, it seems like, with just about every spelling from [name_f]Catlyn[/name_f] to [name_f]Katelynn[/name_f]. It still feels trendy to me, especially the ones with extra Ys.
But seeing [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] makes me smile. I like that one.
We have 3 in our family…2 by marriage or very nearly…(we are expecting an engagement announcement soon) my husbands cousin, and my sister. They each spell their names differently. My parents spelled my sister’s name [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f]. I think of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] as being the younger sister to the generation of Jennifers and Jessicas. This was the only trendy name my parents used and at the time they had never met another.
[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]…
I really love this name, she’s a very pretty Irish choice, I also love the nickname [name_f]Cait[/name_f] for [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]. This is a beautiful name.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think of it as trendy? I think the authentic [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] isn’t trendy but the likes of [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f], [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] and every other butchering spelling of this gorgeous Irish name is.
[name_m]How[/name_m] many Caitlins’ (and other spelling variations) do you know and what ages are they? I know of one [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] her age is 15.
What is your favourite spelling of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]? The original form [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] as you can tell from my other answers ; )
Would you ever use it? No… because it’s my name I’d recommend it to someone else though, I love my name.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think of it as trendy? Not really. My name ([name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f]) was 101 the year I was born, but I knew 5 other girls with variant spellings growing up.
[name_m]How[/name_m] many Caitlins’ (and other spelling variations) do you know and what ages are they? Me - [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f], 23; another [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f], 20; [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f], 24; [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f], 24; [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f], 22; [name_f]Katelin[/name_f], 5 or 6
Which is your favourite spelling of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]? Mine, [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f]. But for simplicity of spelling, people tend to assume it’s either [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] or [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f], so I’d suggest one of those.
I think [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] (and that’s the spelling I would use…maybe [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f]) is a fine name, but very dated to me. To me it is a 1990s name. I know five [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]'s: [name_f]Kaitlynn[/name_f] (age 10), [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f] (age 17), [name_f]Caitlyn[/name_f] (age 20), [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] (age 28), and [name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f] (age 19). I also know a baby whose middle name is [name_f]Catelynn[/name_f] (after her two grandmothers [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]).
I like the [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] spelling the best. I liked this name when I was younger as I was into more classic names and I like original spellings of names. As this is the original spelling I would stick to my guns and correct other people who prefer other spellings.
I also went Catholic School but I think Catholic school is an anomaly as most women in Catholic School have a name (first or middle) as or as a variant of [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] is an Irish version of [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think of it as trendy? No
[name_m]How[/name_m] many Caitlins’ (and other spelling variations) do you know and what ages are they? I don’t know many. Maybe a half-dozen over the course of my life? Most of them are my age roughly (mid to late twenties)
Which is your favourite spelling of [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]? I prefer the classic spelling: [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]. It used to be one of my favorite names when i was a teenager. then it became super trendy or maybe just popular where I lived, so I kind of put in on the back burner. But I still like it. This is my favorite spelling.
