Iām not a fan of [name_f]Erin[/name_f]. It feels dated and just blah.
Let me start by saying that, as an early twenty-something named [name_f]Erin[/name_f], Iām not a fan of my name. Iāve known so many Erins throughout my life, so much so that in high school, there were several of us with the same last initial so we had to go by middle names. I agree with the previous poster, today [name_f]Erin[/name_f] feels dated, and I think even for my generation, [name_f]Erin[/name_f] is dated, as Iāve met several older Erins who have said to me, āOh, I thought [name_f]Erin[/name_f] was too old for someone your age.ā
It sounds cute, thereās nothing inherently wrong with the name at ALL, but the reality is that it wonāt feel as fresh as other options, due to its popularity.
Never liked it, and never understood why it was even popular at one time.
I really like [name_f]Erin[/name_f], to me itās not dated at all and Iāve only ever met 1 [name_f]Erin[/name_f], who is so lovely and in her late 20ās, it probably depends where you live as to how popular/dated it feels.
I would definitely consider using it if my partner hadnāt already used it for a pet rat a few years ago.
I know it reached itās popularity peak back in the 80s or 90s, but I still really like the name. Itās not one of my personal top choices for a name, but I wouldnāt think anything strange about meeting a little [name_f]Erin[/name_f] today.
I like more feminine names, so [name_f]Erin[/name_f] isnāt my taste.
Maybe [name_f]Erica[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] (pronounced like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but an E sound in the front)
i love [name_f]Erin[/name_f]. Itās so sweet and pretty but also feels sturdy and not at all frilly. I love the nickname Ezzy for it, but [name_f]Erin[/name_f] on itās own is lovely
Thanks everyone! I appreciate the feedback
I think it would be refreshing to meet a little [name_f]Erin[/name_f] today. It peaked in the 80s and 90s but was no where near as popular as say [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]. Itās been more than 20 years since it peaked and would be a fresh choice [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
BTW my name is [name_f]Erin[/name_f] born in the 80ās and I never experienced meeting too many of them, or having to go by a last initial to identify myself. I highly doubt that would be the case in this time. [name_f]Erin[/name_f] was selected for me as the first born Irish grandchild as it means āGirl from irelandā I say go for it!
Basic white girl name imo
Since itās not as popular anymore, your [name_f]Erin[/name_f] would likely be the only one in her class, if not her school. [name_f]Erin[/name_f] might sound blah to mom-age people, but her classmates would encounter in quite differently. A lot of nameberries are down on mom names but when I encounter little [name_f]Mary[/name_f], Frannies and Judiths in the wild, itās surprisingly adorable.
If you can remove [name_f]Erin[/name_f] from the 70s/80s context, I think you can appreciate itās Irish charm. If [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]/[name_m]Liam[/name_m]/[name_m]Declan[/name_m]/Niambh/
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]/[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] can be all the rage, is [name_f]Erin[/name_f] so out of place and so out of step?
I think itās dated. It hit its peak in the early '80s and has been declining since. Kind of random, but the name made it onto the popularity charts for boys from the 1960s to the 1990s. I just learned that.
Thanks for all the feedback guys
I think itās a sweet, traditional name.
I have quite a few friends in their middle 20s to early 30s with the name [name_f]Erin[/name_f] and [name_f]Eryn[/name_f]. Some pronounce it ā[name_f]Air[/name_f]-rinā and others āEh-rin.ā
It is one of my favorite ādatedā names. So yes to me itās dated, but I still like it. Itās in the group of [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], [name_f]Heather[/name_f], [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], [name_u]Allison[/name_u], [name_f]Amy[/name_f].
I actually really like it. I love your [name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], and I find [name_f]Erin[/name_f] to be sweet, understated, and charming. Itās gotten a lot of usage in previous generations, but I donāt know that Iāve known more than one, personally, aside from berries. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Erin[/name_f], and I like it a lot with so many of your other favoritesā[name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], etc.!
I like [name_f]Erin[/name_f]. Itās fresher than most ādatedā names.
I met one at the park. Upon introducing herself, she immediately said, āItās [name_f]Erin[/name_f], with an E, not [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]! Iām a girl.ā
