I’ve been tossing around Gaspard/Gaspar for a a while. I do love it especially with my top boys*, but I worry about possible teasing with the words gas or gassy. I don’t like Caspar or Jasper.
*Alaric Matthew, Henry Marcellus, Sebastian Rhys, Lucian Malachi and Roland Theodore
I love [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m]! [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] is okay, but I prefer the [name_m]French[/name_m] form. I also like [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]/[name_m]Kaspar[/name_m]/[name_m]Kasper[/name_m], though. It was one of my best friend’s favorite names, so I think of it fondly in my memories of her. I have it as a middle on my list ([name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]), but I think it’d be intriguing up front. I think something like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] would be amazing! Were you thinking FN or MN?
[name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] is lovely as a first name or a middle name! I prefer it as a first name, but if you’re worried about teasing, try using it as a middle name. I don’t think teasing will be too much of a problem, though (hopefully!).
[name_m]Gaspard[/name_m]/[name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] is nms. Though I’d choose [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] over [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] - it looks less gassy to me.
I’d say it could make a very interesting mn. I don’t know if as a fn it bugs me because of the Gas- beginning or just because it’s nms but I would be intrigued with it as a mn none the less. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps in some shape or form.
I love [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m]/d. I’m impartial about the spelling but if you’re concerned about ‘gas’, [name_m]Gazpar[/name_m] is an accepted variant. I pronounce it ‘gah-SPAR’ so it sounds more like ‘gus’ than ‘gas’. I like the nn Pirate ([name_m]Jose[/name_m] [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] was a legendary pirate here in [name_f]Florida[/name_f]).
I think [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] is extremely handsome - very strong and unique without being too out-there. [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] is nice too, but I do prefer [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], and even then I prefer [name_m]Jasper[/name_m].
I actually think [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m]/[name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] is cute. I think the gassy association isn’t really that bad. Kids are less likely to pick on someone now there are lots of different names.
I think its a great middle. I think of the Disney version of the beauty and the beast though which might just be me…[name_m]Gaston[/name_m] I believe is what I’m thinking. I wouldn’t worry About any mean nns but it is a very big name for a first name, though this type of name seems to be coming back in a big way so I think you’re alright.
I’m not really a fan and as soon as I hear it I start singing the cartoon song. [name_f]My[/name_f] 4 year old watches it everyday. ([name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] & [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] in case you aren’t familiar with it). I think I don’t like the Gas part of the name.
I’m not loving it. [name_m]Gaspard[/name_m] (though perhaps spelled differently, I like [name_m]Gazpar[/name_m]) might be fine. But [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m] sounds too much like someone who gasps for air. Does remind me of Gas a bit too.
Almost does carry that pleasant sophisticated old feeling though, which is nice.
I’m not familiar with this name but my first impression wasn’t very good. Sounds a little pompous…a big name to fill…like a [name_m]Gaston[/name_m]. Also, “Gas” is not flattering. You can try to make “[name_u]Gus[/name_u]” stick but “gus” is no where in [name_m]Gaspar[/name_m]'s name so that nn won’t come naturally. If you have a strong tie to this name or simply really admire it…use it as the middle name.
