I’ve heard mixed reviews (too masculine, too trendy, etc.), but there’s just something about the name [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] that appeals to me. [name_m]Even[/name_m] in a recent poll I had, it was not a favorite… and I thought, aw man!! So just wondering what you berries think about it. I really love the idea of sweet sisters, [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. But maybe I’m just crazy =P
If you do like it, any ideas on a more feminine middle name?
I think it sounds like yet another trendy surname given to little girls. [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is a stunning name. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is very unfortunate next to her.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Liv[/name_f], and I’ve actually surprised myself by really liking [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] too, especially with [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. I’m usually not a fan of surname names at all, but I’m a sucker for an ends-in-o name for girls and I like a ton of names with that [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- sound too so I guess this one just clicks.
I think you want a more classic feminine middle with [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], maybe:
Well I love [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], and voted for them in that poll! I think if you are loving it, that’s truly all that matters - maybe it’s not the most popular of your choices with [name_f]Liv[/name_f] (you have several other lovely names for people to gravitate to), but that doesn’t mean there aren’t people (like me) who love the two together.
I have always really liked [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. Before it became a bit ‘trendy’ I thought of it as a very uncommon name but an established first name for girls all the same. My Dad has known a couple of [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]'s in his life, mostly from a number of decades ago. I know of one little [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] who’s about four. I think it’s a gorgeous name. I hope this helps - there is definitely love for [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] out there, and love for [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] with [name_f]Liv[/name_f]! Go for it!!
I like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. But I love, love, love [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and it just doesn’t feel as special. It doesn’t have the same feel, timelessness, or beauty. It’s sweet and good-natured and has some spunk, but that’s where it ends. There is nothing wrong with [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], but honestly… just use [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] as a middle if you’re planning on using [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. Or else choose a name that matches better with [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is always good in a middle spot.
You can also do a formal name that goes better with [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and is more beautiful, and just call her [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] as a nickname.
I love the name [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], and I feel that [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] are a great sibset. For a middle name, how about…
I agree with lanternlight. Who cares what everyone else thinks. If you like [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], then go for it. Not everyone will, but others will love it. But if you’re asking for opinions, I like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], but it is trendy and seems masculine to me…but i’m also the person that considered [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], even [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] for a boy, but they are all off the list because we found things we like better, but yes to me [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] does seem masculine…that being said, there are no rules anymore…if people can name girls sawyer, ryan, tyler etc, then [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is completely usuable
I am a little surprised at how much I like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. I think the nn [name_u]Marley[/name_u], or even Lo is charming. I like the suggestion of pairing it with a feminine middle.
I prefer [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] or [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] :), [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] reminds me a bit too much of [name_u]Marley[/name_u] the dog from [name_u]Marley[/name_u] and Me haha, [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is really nice and if you love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] than go for it Goodluck
Thanks for all the input and suggestions! I am glad to see that I am not the only one who thinks it’s a beautiful name. I love the nn [name_u]Marley[/name_u], too (though I’ll probably just use the full name mostly). For mns, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Other ideas I had for mns…
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] (too much of a mouthful?)
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (MJ?)
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] Bloom
I know a [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] sibset, but that [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is a boy. So to me, [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is all boy.
I love the name [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] (no e) on a girl. My favorite combo for it is [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] [name_u]Simone[/name_u], and I realize it is a bit rhymey, but that is part of the appeal for me. This is been a favorite of mine for some time.
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] was my top girl name for a while, I really love it! I find that it sounds gender neutral, but when written on paper I feel that it’s all girl to me. It’s trendy, yet soft and ages well. I had [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_m]Hart[/name_m] on my list for a while for a girl, but it became too masculine for me.
I think if you go w/[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], I’d choose a mn that has either one syllable or three or more syllables. The rhythm of [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] & a two-syllable mn seems off, at least to me. If your last name is short, [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] would be lovely; if it’s long, [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] sound good to me. Is [name_f]Liv[/name_f] short for [name_f]Livia[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]? [name_f]Livia[/name_f]'s been a GP of mine for decades…
