Honest Opinions!

hello fellow Berries! I really like the name [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], but most people think it is dated. What are your opinions on [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]? The reason I like this name is because it is space related. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is the smallest moon of Uranus (I am pretty sure).

TIA!

The nickname would be Mandy, and/or Mira

I don’t mind the name [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] and I don’t think there was ever a time where it was overused to the point of needing to kibosh it completely. Some of the prettiest names are ones overlooked because they seem too “plain” or “dated”
I think if you were to pair it with a more modern name either as a double barrel or middle name it would really reinvent the sound of it!

I like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. I don’t think of is as old fashioned or dated. I think I would end up using [name_f]Randa[/name_f] as a NN.

I really like [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]. It was most popular in the 80s/early 90s I think, but not too popular so it doesn’t feel tied to that time to me.
[name_f]Mira[/name_f] is a perfect nn for [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]!

I think [name_f]Mira[/name_f] is really beautiful, could just [name_f]Mira[/name_f] work as the first name? If that doesn’t work for you, I would go with your gut. It’s your kid and other people’s opinions shouldn’t be the deciding factor. Congratulations!

It reminds me of having your rights read to you by a policeman.

Personally I think [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is fine. I think by dated people might mean that it’s closely related to a certain age group (i.e. 20-30s) but [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] lived well on for another two decades after its “peak,” as I know several younger women with that name. Tbh [name_u]Mandy[/name_u] seems much more dated than [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], though I like it better as a nickname for [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]. Overall, though, I wouldn’t worry! I don’t think [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is a name that will warrant any second glances. Best of luck!

It’s not my cup of tea. I can’t really think of any kids with the name but 30+ with [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_m]Lambert[/name_m] and the [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] On [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] McGuire. I like the meaning! So… not my favorite… not trendy… not giving off the vintage feel. But maybe not necessarily dated?

It’s sweet! [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was comedian [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_m]Hart[/name_m], from the tv show [name_f]Miranda[/name_f].

I don’t see it as dated at all - I think of [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] from The [name_u]Tempest[/name_u], so I see it as Shakespearean! I think it’s a beautiful name with a lovely meaning.

I really like it! And I have had good associations with the name. I have a fiery little red head who is 5 named [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] and she is a force to be reckoned with.

I really like how there are literary associations with the name, as well as some pop culture associations- [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] (Greys anatomy) , [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_m]Lambert[/name_m] (both very strong and powerful, outspoken women… gotta love that!! )

I love the space connection ! I did not know that one! I think it makes the name that much cooler !!

It doesn’t have an appealing sound to me. I love [name_f]Mira[/name_f] though!

It feels very Shakespearean to me, too? I am not the hugest fan, although I do LOVE [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and even [name_f]Miri[/name_f]. It also brings to mind [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_m]Hart[/name_m] and her hilarious show Miranda. Of space names in general, I like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] or even [name_f]Elara[/name_f] or [name_f]Io[/name_f] more, personally, but [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is a timeless name and if you love it, you should use it! I’m picky about my [name_f]Mira[/name_f] names haha, which may be why [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]’s not my favorite. Objectively, there’s nothing wrong with it, though, so I wouldn’t let those comments stop you if you truly love it.

Good luck!

I think [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is a familiar but largely under used name. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nn [name_u]Mandy[/name_u] too it gives a spunky edge to the feminine [name_f]Miranda[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is beautiful! It’s Shakespearean and elegantly feminine without being too frilly. I don’t think it’s dated at all.

Ok, so first of all, I was an [name_f]English[/name_f] Lit major and missed the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection, so I’m a little ashamed about that. lol

I don’t mind [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] at all. It’s NMS and maybe feels a touch dated to me, but not anywhere near as much as the other popular name from its time like [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u] or [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] or [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u]. I was born in the 80s (almost 90s) and I don’t think I ever knew a [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], but I for sure knew a [name_u]Kimberly[/name_u], many Ashleys, and some Lindsays. [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] from [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] Macguire is my only connection to the name from around that time period and that one was tenuous at best considering I second guessed myself on whether or not that was even the girl’s name. If you love [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] and potentially want to use it, I say go for it.

I don’t think it’s dated; I think it’s pretty! And the association is pretty too.

Miranda is lovely! It’s my older cousin’s name, and I’ve always really admired her/looked up to her, so I have nothing but positive associations with it! It’s beautiful.

I think [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] is nice. It reminds of the gorgeous [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] [name_u]Kerr[/name_u]. I don’t find it to be dated, at least not where I live. I don’t think I’ve ever met a [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], of any age. [name_f]Amanda[/name_f]/Mandy has a more dated vibe for me.
