Our daughter’s name is [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. We have narrowed the list down to [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. Thoughts on something that works best with our daughter’s name are greatly appreciated. Xx
I’m surprising myself here. I’d usually go for the literary reference - [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] - but I really love [name_f]Perrie[/name_f]. I’ve always liked the [name_u]Perry[/name_u] spelling, but if [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] looks nicer to you, I think that’s a fine spelling to use. With the popularity of unisex names I just can’t believe nobody is catching on to it yet. The matching double letters in [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] and [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] looks nice.
Since [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] is a unisex name, I don’t think you need to go unisex but I wouldn’t use a super frilly name. Both [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] fit well. I don’t mind solidly masculine names in the middle, but my warning is that since [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is unisex, [name_u]James[/name_u] will probably lead people to think she’s a boy. I’m sure you have a good reason for using it though - after a family member, maybe.
I love the name [name_f]Perri[/name_f]/peri/perrie. I vote [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] since it is so adorable, and sounds great with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u].
I don’t know if [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is a family choice, if so, ignore me, but the ee sound in [name_f]Marie[/name_f] clashes with [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] a bit. Maybe [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]?
I like [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] more. I also prefer the [name_u]Perry[/name_u] spelling.
[name_f]Perrie[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] by far.
I can’t tell by your post: is this a boy or a girl?
[name_u]Perry[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
I like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] much better than [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] - this may be regional or just ignorance, but I think I’ve only ever encountered the [name_u]Perry[/name_u] spelling either as a first name or a surname, so [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] looks misspelled (and also I could see it being mistaken for [name_m]Pierre[/name_m]). Also I think of it as a very masculine name. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] feels more versatile, and to me it looks more complete and less like a nickname. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] also has a warmth about it that I really like. I’d put a traditionally feminine middle name with it since [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]'s is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but just thinking of the first names, [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] would be my pick in a heartbeat.
Actually now that I’m thinking back, a family friend is named I think [name_m]Pary[/name_m]. I don’t know if it’s a nickname or not. It suits her well and somehow I never associated it with the name [name_u]Perry[/name_u].
[name_u]Perry[/name_u] is adorable. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is harsh and unattractive.
I vastly prefer [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] over [name_f]Perrie[/name_f], but I think [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is very gender ambiguous, and I’m not sure if you’re going for that, considering your first daughter’s name isn’t completely unisex. I think [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] would be absolutely beautiful with [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]; soft but unisex first names, with classic, feminine middle names.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Perrine[/name_f]? It’s [name_m]French[/name_m] and means ‘traveler’
I don’t think [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] is a real name, so I guess [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. I would consider using a girl’s name on a girl rather than a surname, however.
Oh my gosh, it’s not even a contest: [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] by far. [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] is just kind of blah.
I prefer [name_f]Perrie[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] is too masculine.
[name_f]Perrie[/name_f] is my favourite…I slightly prefer its spelt [name_u]Peri[/name_u], but [name_u]Perry[/name_u] looks masculine so I’d stick with the i/ie variation!
With [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], I’d think [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] would be nice for you - both have gender-ambiguous type firsts and more traditional middles, and also have the [name_m]Eli[/name_m]/[name_f]Mar[/name_f] repetition going on too…they seem to match without being too matchy.
I second this.
[name_f]Perrie[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f], for sure, [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] sounds too masculine in comparison to [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], who has a unisex fn and a female mn.
