Honestly thoughts and opinions on lorelei

okay so lorelei, we can all agree it is a beautiful name and definitely under used but ! do you think it could work on a non binary person ?

[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is a lovely name - bright, sharp and mystical. I think it could work on a non binary person, so long as they feel comfortable with it

Very pretty and strong

I’m not a fan , I think it’s too heavy on the L sound and way too frilly while also seeming like somewhat of a clunky [name_m]German[/name_m] name without the clunky-cool factor.

i adore lorelei. i’m a huge gilmore girls fan, so i would probably spell it lorelai, but this spelling is just as, if not more, lovely. it feels spiritual and feminine, and so so strong. i have german lineage and love that side of it, as well. while i think it could be used for a person who identifies as nb, it is very feminine to me. the nicknames ‘lore’ and ‘rory’ definitely make it more neutral, however!

I’m personally of the belief that truly any name can be used for a nb individual! And I think Lorelei’s no exception. It’s an absolutely lovely name, but also sounds very strong. I love it and adore the nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u].

Also, optics wise, I think the [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] spelling does lend itself a bit more towards gender neutral-ism.

[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is great — currently watching [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls which is making me love it :relaxed:

I think it could definitely work for an enby — it’s not particularly frilly and the nicknames help. It’s got a similar feel to boys’ names like [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], but it’s also got a softness that balances it and makes it feel more gender neutral. So, sound-wise, I think it works!

However, I think most people would assume feminine when hearing the name, so it depends on the person’s comfort level

I think any name can work for a non-binary person. However, that person should take into consideration when choosing the name that most people would assume it is a feminine name, so if being assumed female would cause any discomfort then they should probably choose a different name.

It does sound feminine to me, but I think it can work! I also like the nickname [name_f]Lore[/name_f]!

I do love [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. It’s a name I iamgine a young person would love to have, and it still ages nicely. It might create some issues with pronunciation but nothing to fear.

I like [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] a lot. But I don’t think I could ever use just because nobody would spell it right where I am or know how to say it.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite spelling is Loreley because of the song by Blackmore’s [name_u]Night[/name_u].

I think it could work if the person loved it madly. I don’t care for the name myself so it wouldn’t work for me.
