Honey

Hello,
Recently I have really fallen for the concept of [name]Honey[/name] as a name or a meaning of a name. I don’t think I’d ever use it in the first name spot, even though I love the sound and meaning of it, it just isn’t respectable enough (it doesn’t pass the Dr. [name]Honey[/name] (last name) test lol). What do you all think of it as a middle name? I think it is equally usable as a middle name as some of the flower names. Could anybody recommend any names with the same feel or that conjures a similar image to [name]Honey[/name]? Any names that mean [name]Honey[/name]?

Thank you

Miel
[name]Melia[/name]
[name]Esti[/name]
[name]Melina[/name]
[name]Pamela[/name] - all of which mean honey.

[name]Honora[/name] nicknamed [name]Honey[/name]?

I wouldnt use miel, it means honey but it’s not a name. I think [name]Melissa[/name] and names related to it mean
honey. You coukd use it as a mn since it wouldn’t get used often but personally honey is a term of endearment, it’s something I sometimes call my husband so I have trouble picturing it as a name.

Typing on iPhone please excuse any autocorrection mistakes!

WDYT of Ameline? I looked it up and aparently Melanie and names related it to are connected to honey!

I love the above suggestions of [name]Melia[/name] and [name]Honora[/name]. As a college student I worked in a restaurant, and there was a sweet elderly man who worked there just to pass his time. He had a wife–cute as a button–and her name was Cookie. This post reminded me of Cookie. I don’t know if that was the name on her birth certificate, or if it was just a nickname that everybody–EVERYBODY–called her, every time she came in. She was the sweetest old woman, small and frail with the kindest smile. Cookie just suited her so perfectly. Sure, if wouldn’t pass the “Dr. Cookie test,” but I couldn’t think of a better person to wear the name. If you like [name]Honey[/name], I’m sure your daughter would wear it perfectly.

I think [name]Honey[/name] is adorable - but way too adorable for a first name. I don’t think it would cause an issue in the middle. Something like [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Honey[/name] (for example) would be darling and would still pass the Dr. test - which is something I’m insistent about, myself.

My sister’s name is [name]Melissa[/name], it means bee, which is close to honey since bees make honey

Some other names:
Asali - sweet like honey
Missa - honeybee
[name]Pam[/name]/[name]Pamela[/name]/[name]Pamelia[/name] - all honey
Tarala - honeybee
[name]Darva[/name] - honeybee
[name]Devorah[/name] - honeybee
[name]Melina[/name] - honey
[name]Deborah[/name] - bee
Humla - bumblebee
Jelissa - white bee
[name]Melita[/name] - bee

I’m not a fan of [name]Honey[/name] as a name, then again I’m not a fan of very many word names, [name]Honey[/name] is a food and too sweet sounding, I don’t think it’ll age well…

I love [name]Honey[/name], I think it’s as sweet as can be! I’ve always had a soft spot for this one, it’s one of those names that just pops into my head again and again.

As a first name it works imo, but i can totally understand the concerns. I think the idea of [name]Honey[/name] as a middle is a terrific one! [name]Paloma[/name] [name]Honey[/name] & [name]Eliana[/name] [name]Honey[/name] come to mind, also the suggestion of [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Honey[/name] was great!

I’ve been reading my niece [name]Richard[/name] Scary stories so Miss [name]Honey[/name], the teacher, was the first thought that came to mind. That said, I think it could be cute as a mn.

The Gaelic word for honey is “mill”. [name]Milly[/name] or [name]Milla[/name] would be fantastic

[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Honey[/name] is a bit too [name]Roald[/name] Dahl.

[name]Millicent[/name], [name]Melisende[/name] and [name]Melantha[/name] are some other [name]Honey[/name] alternatives.

I like it as a middle name a lot.

I met a girl named Madhulika (pronounced mad-oo-LEEK-ah) whose name meant sweet honey.

I love the word Honeysuckle, love honeysuckle flowers so much, and I wish it could be a name, but I can’t get past the “suckle” part. [name]Clover[/name], my old favorite that’s “spreading like wildfire” right now, is the flower from which most honey that you buy in stores is made. I think once when googling [name]Clover[/name] as a name I found a drag queen named [name]Clover[/name] [name]Honey[/name]!

Hello!
Thank you for all the suggestions
While I do like [name]Melina[/name] and I find the nn Lissy for [name]Melissa[/name] adorable I just can’t picture them on my little one. Unfortunately the other names with the meaning “honey” aren’t really my style but thanks for the effort :).
Instead of using [name]Honey[/name] as a first name can any of you think of any other soft/sweet names (preferably ones that are respectable and age well)? At the moment [name]May[/name]/[name]Mae[/name] is still sticking in my mind… Thanks!

[name]Jane[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name] ([name]Dora[/name] or [name]Thea[/name] as a nickname?)

I have to say I love [name]Honey[/name]! I think it makes a beautiful middle name. Did you know [name]Kate[/name] [name]Winslet[/name]'s daughter is named [name]Mia[/name] [name]Honey[/name]? I think it is pretty as a first name too, but I wouldn’t use it myself.

[name]Melissa[/name] means “bee” and, although it seems a bit dated, it has a great history. [name]Melissa[/name] was a nymph and nurse to the baby [name]Zeus[/name]. She taught the use of honey, and fed the baby [name]Zeus[/name] honey (or sometimes, bees brought the honey straight to him). [name]Cronus[/name], who was in the habit of eating all of his children so none could overthrow him, became aware of the fact that his wife [name]Rhea[/name] had hidden [name]Zeus[/name] from him and given him a rock to eat instead. He found out that [name]Melissa[/name] was taking care of him and turned her into an earthworm. [name]Zeus[/name] took pity upon [name]Melissa[/name] and transformed her into a beautiful bee.
I also like [name]Pamela[/name] which means “all sweetness”, and comes from the Greek pan which means “all” and meli which means “honey”.
There is also [name]Meade[/name], which is an alcoholic drink made from fermented honey.

Here are a few suggestions of names which I think are similar in flavor (pun not intended) to [name]Honey[/name]:
[name]Tansy[/name]
[name]Eglantine[/name]
[name]Lilac[/name]
[name]Jonquil[/name]
[name]Saffron[/name]
Celandine
[name]Verbena[/name]
[name]Anise[/name]
[name]Ginger[/name]
Myrtille - Means “blueberry” in French
Coriander

HTH!

If you like the nn Lissy for [name]Melissa[/name], perhaps you’d like [name]Felicity[/name]? [name]Felicity[/name] seems to me to be a sweet sort of name, and you’d get the nickname you like!

Other Ideas
[name]Estelle[/name]
[name]Laura[/name]/ [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Olive[/name]
[name]Hannah[/name]
[name]Cara[/name] (maybe as a nn for [name]Caroline[/name]?)
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name]
[name]Angela[/name]
[name]June[/name]
[name]Adeline[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]
and I really think [name]May[/name] or [name]Mae[/name] fits as well. Good choice!

I know this is an old post, but I just have to reply it!

I CAN´T STAND THE NAME [name]HONEY[/name]! The only person whose name is [name]Honey[/name] is extremly annoying and unpleasent!

Sorry berries for the outburst, but I just need to say that!
Thanks! And sorry again!

[name]Honey[/name] was used in Gone With the Wind as the dull and ugly sister of [name]Ashley[/name] [name]Wilkes[/name]. She wasn’t in the movie, so that’s probably why it’s not as known, but that’s always going to be my association for the name.
It’s too much of a nickname for me as well. I can’t imagine someone being named [name]Honey[/name], and not seeing it as a petname (like darling or sweetie.)
Sorry I don’t like it! Maybe a name that means honey would be a good alternative?
