Honor Guadalupe?

Asking for my brother, How to honor one grandmother named [name_u]Guadalupe[/name_u] (Lupe) and one named [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]? Catch is grandmother [name_f]Lupe[/name_f] isn’t a fan of her name and honestly mom and dad aren’t either. [name_f]Lupe[/name_f] also doesn’t have a middle name. But they plan on using the name [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] somehow but also would like to figure out a way to honor both in a way that seems fair.

[name_f]Adalynn[/name_f] or [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] came to mind.

Could [name_u]Lupin[/name_u] or [name_u]Lupine[/name_u] be a middle name? It starts and ends in the same letters as [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] and lupins are lovely!

[name_u]Guadalupe[/name_u] means valley of wolves so maybe:

[name_f]Ylva[/name_f] (means wolf)
[name_u]Hayden[/name_u] (mwans valley)
[name_u]Kendall[/name_u] (means valley)
[name_u]Dallas[/name_u] (can mean valley and has the dal of Guadalupe)
[name_u]Vale[/name_u] (linked to valley)
[name_u]Lupine[/name_u] (means wolf)

Maybe just a name with the [name_f]Lu[/name_f]- sound. Like [name_u]Louise[/name_u], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_u]Luca[/name_u], etc. [name_u]Or[/name_u] even just [name_u]Lou[/name_u] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] another idea is to double barrel a [name_f]Lu[/name_f]- name with a Pe- name. Like Luna-Penny or Louise-Petra (those are just two examples off the top of my head, there’s a ton more names you could choose from with these same sounds).

I thought of Luna right away. It has the “n” sound of Lynn and the “Lu” sound of Lupe.

[name_u]Guadalupe[/name_u] and [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] both have water meanings! [name_f]Lupe[/name_f] means “wolf” BUT [name_u]Guadalupe[/name_u] means “hidden river” and [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] means “lake”. I think any name with a water meaning could in fact honor both people. How about:

[name_f]Maren[/name_f]
[name_f]Mira[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_u]Monroe[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Hali[/name_u]
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]

If she’s still alive, asking her would be the best bet. She might have ideas.

You could do another name related to [name_f]Mary[/name_f], or you could do another city in Mexico to tie that connection together. [name_u]Rosario[/name_u] or [name_f]Socorro[/name_f] could be creative ways to honor her

Any L or G name could also work (besides [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] of course, since it’s honoring someone else).

There’s also Louellen, which has the [name_f]Lu[/name_f] from [name_f]Lupe[/name_f], and the “Lynn” sound in there, which would be a direct way to use them both

Perhaps [name_f]Lupita[/name_f]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], [name_f]Lula[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], etc.

[name_f]Guadelupe[/name_f] means ‘valley of the wolves’ so how about…
[name_u]Glyn[/name_u] (means valley)
[name_u]Kendall[/name_u] (means valley)
[name_u]Vale[/name_u] (means valley)
[name_u]Lovell[/name_u] (means wolf cub)
Louve (means female wolf)
[name_m]Lyall[/name_m] (means wolf)
Ulva (means female wolf)

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I second Gwendolyn and Adalyn

Second this! Lupin was my first thought on reading the post. Lupins are beautiful flowers and I think it would work well as an honour

my first thought was mary or maria ! i also think linda or lina could work to combine the spanish origin of guadalupe and letters of lynn

Maybe [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]? Incorporates [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] and sounds somewhat similar to [name_u]Guadalupe[/name_u] while still having distinct nickname options.

I would actually ask the grandma how she would like to be honoured; maybe there’s a name she has always loved, maybe there’s a connection to a beloved ancestor that is important to her, etc. I think it would be very special to include the honoured person in the naming process (in a respectful way, of course).
