Hello all! I’m looking for options for a name to honor my fathers middle name of [name_u]Ray[/name_u]. I’m an only child and I really want the opportunity to honor him with a name. I know the obvious answer is to use [name_u]Ray[/name_u]/Rae, but I’m trying to look into other options as well.
First name will be [name_f]Maren[/name_f] or [name_u]Marin[/name_u], haven’t decided on spelling yet.
Big sisters name is [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u].
I love [name_f]Maren[/name_f]/Marin [name_u]Rae[/name_u]!
Here’s some other options that maybe don’t sound like [name_u]Ray[/name_u] but have other similarities in meaning
means “light” or “sun/sunshine” like “ray of light” or rays of the sun:
[name_f]Illuminata[/name_f] (illuminated in Latin)
[name_u]Luce[/name_u] (light in Italian) / [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_u]Lux[/name_u] (light in Latin)
[name_u]Ori[/name_u] (my light in Hebrew) / [name_f]Orli[/name_f] (light for me in Hebrew)
[name_f]Elanor[/name_f] (star sun in Sindarin/Lord of the Rings)
[name_f]Heloise[/name_f] (helios = sun in Greek)
[name_f]Soleil[/name_f] (sun in [name_u]French[/name_u]) / [name_u]Sol[/name_u] (sun in Spanish)
My grandfather’s name was [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] and I’ve often thought about using [name_u]Gray[/name_u] as an honour name for him (and my father [name_u]Garry[/name_u], given [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is an anagram of [name_u]Gary[/name_u]). How about [name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]?
This is probably way too out there, but I really like [name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f]. [name_f]Maren[/name_f] [name_f]Helia[/name_f] is a bit more subtle.
