šŸ“’ Honor Names on Your List

As Iā€™m sure many have seen on threads past, I am a huge proprietor of honor names. All of the names on my shortlist are honors! Meaning in a name, to me, rarely comes from the ā€œdictionaryā€ definition of a name. Itā€™s all in the honor. Plusā€¦ how fun are they!

So, Iā€™d love to hear: What are your personal favorite honor names (as well as, if youā€™re comfortable, where do they come from and what/who do they honor?).

To kick all this off, here is my current shortlist of names for my own babies. Two daughters, two sons, and a grand total of 16 honor names. Whew. :flushed:
(Is this thread an excuse to post my listā€¦? Maybe a little bitā€¦ shhh.)

:butterfly: Josephine Alice May nn Jo
Honors my absolute favorite novel of all time (and its heroine) as well as the LW name my mom has told me sheā€™d be most likely to use herself. Honors my mother (Alisyn) in the first middle. Honors miss LMA herself in the second middle, as well as my sister (born in May).

:butterfly: Florence Luella Cerys nn Ren
Honors my parents in the nickname/first name (as their middles both include ā€œRenā€ - Garen and Renee). Honors LMA, my middle, and my fatherā€™s gran (Elizabeth) in the first middle. Honors a family of sisters very, Cerys dear to me in the second middle (their initials are SC, E, R, and C, all letters represented in Cerys).

:butterfly: George Edward Hugh nn Geordie
Honors, well, LMA again in the first name! Then, my father (using his Confirmation name as the first middle) and myself/my father again (using a a form of ā€œHuey,ā€ a nickname my dad gave me when I was small).

:butterfly: Wilbur Raymond March nn Wilkie
For onceā€¦ the first name is just one I like! The nickname, though, comes from a book I love and give him a silent ā€œeā€ ending, which is an important honor to me. The first middle is a surname name which honors a really important family in my life. Second middle is, of course, an LW shout.

other honors I love

Dovecote (a house name in LW as well the name of the street my dad grew up on)
Marin (muh-RYNN, the name of the county in which my parents were wed)
Cosmo and Marigold (my birth flowers)
Louisa (for LMA as well as Louise, a family name)
Merit (a family middle name)
Vision (a stretchā€¦ my sisterā€™s name starts with V)
Olsen (a stretchā€¦ honors Olivia, a family name)
Olive (also for Olivia)
Clementine (was on my parentsā€™ name list for my sister, so honors the three of them as well as my sisterā€™s and dadā€™s orange hair color!)

Iā€™m excited to read everyoneā€™s honors! A list, combos, anything you like. :relaxed:

I donā€™t particularly like honors but there are a few names on my list that have a subtle second meaning for me, usually an important experience or place :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

the soccer names
lol these donā€™t need their own explanations! my dad and I are massive soccer fans, and some of my favorite memories with him (and other important people!) come from soccer games
[name_m]Weston[/name_m]
[name_u]Paxton[/name_u]
[name_u]Gio[/name_u]
[name_f]Reyna[/name_f] (also the character in HOO)
[name_m]Kylian[/name_m]
[name_u]Cleo[/name_u] - a little less obvious so Iā€™ll explainā€”Cleoā€™s meaning ā€œgloryā€ references Sporting KCā€™s motto, ā€œfor the glory of the cityā€

ramble-y examples

my mom, dad, and I attended a champions league match when they visited me in [name_u]France[/name_u] (going to a European soccer game was on my and my dadā€™s bucket lists, plus we got to see [name_u]Christian[/name_u] Pulisic score!!)

my dad, uncle, and I attended a [name_m]Columbus[/name_m] [name_m]Crew[/name_m] game when I was 9, which was my first in-person soccer game

my best friend and I sat front row behind the goal when our favorite team (Sporting [name_u]Kansas[/name_u] City) came back from a 1-3 deficit in the last 10 minutes to win 4-3

my youngest sister, dad, and I watched the USWNT win the World Cup at a massive watch party in 2019

my dad letting me stay up late to watch [name_u]Alex[/name_u] [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] score a 124ā€™ goal to win 4-3 in the 2012 Olympic semifinals

[name_f]Amity[/name_f] - I fell in love with the name because of [name_f]Amity[/name_f] Blight in The [name_u]Owl[/name_u] House. this is after years of not liking any virtue names!

[name_u]Ridley[/name_u] - could also be a reference to [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u], and [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars

[name_u]Fable[/name_u] - my great-grandmother, who was a bamf of a woman, was also a writer, and she published a childrenā€™s book that was a collection of fables!

more on her bamf-ery

when my nana was 2, her dad came home and said heā€™d fallen in love with another woman. women couldnā€™t divorce men in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]York[/name_u] at the time so my great nana moved herself to Las [name_u]Vegas[/name_u], established residency for 6 weeks, legally divorced her husband in [name_u]Nevada[/name_u], then moved back to [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]York[/name_u] where she worked as a journalist and raised my nana with her mom and sister.

[name_f]Amaia[/name_f] - means ā€œthe endā€ which references my familyā€™s vacation home, which the aforementioned bamf great nana bought for my nana to visit when nyc wasnā€™t safe during the summer

oh this is so wonderful! just like you, i adore honor names, and i hope to one day include at least one in each of my childrenā€™s names.

some of my favorites (limiting myself to three and a few bonuses for each gender so i donā€™t write an entire essay)ā€¦

boys

martin :evergreen_tree:
heā€™s a triple honor for me, and if i ever have a son, it will take a lot of convincing for me not to use him! heā€™s my fatherā€™s middle name, the name of a street in a town i lived in for several years, and honors my grandparents who often visited the martinsville speedway.

leupold :crossed_swords:
this is an old family surname along with a first name in the ā€œleopoldā€ spelling sprinkled several times across my ancestry. i came across him as a kid ago doing a family tree project for school, and iā€™ve loved him ever since.

fairfax :anchor:
an honor to me because of where i live now, this is where many of my most special moments and memories have taken place. as i donā€™t plan to live in this area after i graduate, it feels right to recognize it by using it as a name.

other family names that i can see myself using include william, edward / eduard, maximilian (though not sure which spelling i like best!), and szymon. i also love vernon, lincoln and bridger as place-related honors.

girls

patricia :strawberry:
the name of my grandmother who iā€™m very close with, this name radiates so many positive qualities for me. sheā€™s a survivor of breast cancer, and one of the most beautiful hearts iā€™ve ever met. especially as she gets older, i would love to carry on her spirit through using this for a daughter.

bethel :snowflake:
sheā€™s a nod to my fatherā€™s hometown, which i always love visiting and lived near when i was younger. additionally, sheā€™s meaningful to me because of my religion and beautiful related meaning. as a bonus, she sounds so wonderful with many of my favorite names!

chantilly :bubbles:
similar to fairfax, she honors a very special place for me, and while i likely wonā€™t use both, they are incredibly significant to me. i would love to give a daughter this sweet name, especially as a middle, and i hope she would appreciate the meaning behind it.

some lovely family names i love include marie, eva / eve, ursa, andelis, and thomasin. for place names, echo, kennie, and liberty have captured my interest.

oh, hazel! what a fun topic! :gift_heart:

so, recently, Iā€™ve gotten into honor names, and here is some Iā€™ve immediately added to my list;

madison :candle:
madison isnā€™t normally my style for a girl, but for a boy, madison just sounds so dreamy! itā€™s honoring my mother, with the ā€˜madā€™ part at the beginning, as well as the s in the name. also the i.

matilda ā€˜maudeā€™ :crossed_swords:
again, honoring my mom! matilda is (naturally) a name i adore, and that it comes with the nickname maude, matilda is the full package for me!

birdie :bouquet:
I am yet to find a fullname for the lovely birdie that i adore, but birdie is honoring my best friend, b3@tr1x (who goes my tr1Xi3 and hates her full name, which is why beatriz, beatrix, or beatrice are completely unusable.)
this could also honor my dad; but I think he would not like this name at all :skull:

pippa :ribbon:
an honor to my favorite book, aggtm! pip is also really cute, so if I end up going with pip for my future daughter, that would be a beautiful nickname contender.

[name_m]God[/name_m] I have so many

[name_u]Kahlo[/name_u]~ Honors my late great grandma [name_u]Carmen[/name_u] [name_f]Delia[/name_f]. Itā€™s hold so much meaning to me itā€™s hard to explain, but on top of me just adoring this name itā€™s so meaningful, I love it so much

[name_f]Glory[/name_f], [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], [name_f]Gloriana[/name_f]~ All are after my grandma [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] who Iā€™m very close to. She already knows Iā€™m gonna name a kid after her, she just request that I donā€™t use her middle name (Eulalia, which I think is gorgeous but she hates it. Too bad for her one of my sisters top names is [name_u]Dove[/name_u] [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f])

Zephiro~ Probably the second most meaningful name on my list. Itā€™s again after my grandma [name_f]Gloria[/name_f] but it a story not many would besides us two. Itā€™s also my grandmaā€™s favorite name on my list which is an added bonus

[name_f]Amparo[/name_f]~ [name_f]Amparo[/name_f] is after my mother [name_f]Amie[/name_f] who Iā€™m very close with

[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]~ A strong family name on my moms side, pronounced sahm-WEHL (not Samwell). Itā€™s my uncles name, my great grandfather and goes farther up. [name_f]My[/name_f] middle name if I were born a boy was going to be [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] as well

[name_m]Xil[/name_m], Galen/a, [name_f]Gisele[/name_f], [name_m]Galileo[/name_m]~ All are after my grandpa [name_m]Gilberto[/name_m] ā€˜Gilā€™

[name_f]Adele[/name_f]~ Another one after my great grandma [name_f]Delia[/name_f], meant to be a more obviously honor

[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]~ A nod to my mother, sheā€™s always said one of her favorite boy names is SebastiĆ”n

[name_f]Amada[/name_f]~ [name_u]An[/name_u] honor for my mother, the Spanish version of her name

[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]~ [name_u]An[/name_u] honor for both my grandma and my father [name_m]Omar[/name_m] (has basically the same meaning)

These are just a few, thereā€™s so many

ellsworth grace was a combo of mine i liked, honoring the city of ellsworth in maine because it was really close to where i lived for a bit and ellsworth makes a much better name than the actual place (plus the place i lived was super tiny so if you needed anything more than what youā€™d find at a tiny general store that we went to not more than once youā€™d need to go to one of the stores in ellsworth). grace honors my great-great grandma grace who i never met, her daughter anne (my great grandma), and on the other side of the family my grandma nancy.

i donā€™t really have any others, the names i like donā€™t make sense for me to ever use because loren was my great grandpa and his first son was a jr, but that wasnā€™t my grandpa so that doesnā€™t really make sense for me. my great grandma (lorenā€™s wife) is alice, and my cousin alice was named after her so to use any variants of alice doesnā€™t feel right either and i happen to love both loren and alice and its variants.

wait just realized i could use eleanor as an honor as she was the elderly neighbor of mine who lived across the way when i was younger and my family and hers were relatively close

I donā€™t typically use honors but hereā€™s a few:

Margot Daphne :blossom: - Margot honors my best friend Margaret and Daphne is for Scooby-Doo, my favorite show growing up

Viola :violin: - honors my grandma Vivian

Freddie and Stevie :guitar: - two of my favorite singers

Solstice :sun_with_face: - for my love of astronomy

Jade and Jasper :crystal_ball: - for my love of crystals

I barely have any honors. [name_f]Kae[/name_f] is for my grandmother, who Iā€™m very close to. [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is a subtle honor for my favorite teacher I ever had, whose name is [name_m]Ike[/name_m] (which I plan to use as an occasional nickname).

[name_f]My[/name_f] most important honor names are either Mary-Clare or [name_f]Molly[/name_f], and [name_u]John[/name_u]. There are others Iā€™d consider, but not before using those.

I try to find creative ways to honor family, friends, characters, and deities in order to fit my style, so theyā€™re not direct honor names per se, but they still count. :slightly_smiling_face: A few examples ā€¦

[name_f]Soleia[/name_f] [name_f]Idunn[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] ā€œLeiaā€ - [name_f]Soleia[/name_f] means ā€œbuttercupā€ in Norwegian, so itā€™s a nod to my heritage. The beginning, [name_u]Sol[/name_u], is also a nod to the Germanic sun goddess. [name_f]Idunn[/name_f] is special as it reflects my partnerā€™s Norse pagan beliefs, and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is for my grandmother, as her name means pearl ! :slightly_smiling_face:

[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] [name_u]Endellion[/name_u] Rosebay ā€œSunnaā€ - [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] is yet another name reflecting my Scandinavian roots, with the added meaning of ā€œgift of the sunā€ and the nickname ā€œSunnaā€ to honor Sol/Sunna yet again. [name_u]Endellion[/name_u] is just there for the amazing meaning. Finally, Rosebay, the common name for Rhododendron, is an honor name for my father, who was dead-set on naming me Rhododendron when I was born.

Valemon [name_m]Melchior[/name_m] [name_u]Snow[/name_u] ā€œBearā€ - Valemon is the name of a character from one of my favorite childhood fairytales, and ties back in with the other names with its Nordic roots. [name_u]Snow[/name_u] is to honor my relative that passed a few years ago, as his name was ā€œSnowyā€. :slightly_smiling_face:

The only honour I am set on right now is Astoria Guinevere :woman_fairy:t3:

Initially, Astoria was a personal honour referencing my favourite band and one of my favourite filmsā€¦ flash forward a couple years and itā€™s the name of the street where my partner and I shared our first date and first kiss! It feels meant to be, haha.

Guinevere honours my mom, Jennifer, and there would be a second middle name as well but my partner and I havenā€™t set one in stone yet and nothing Iā€™ve ever placed there has felt right, but Iā€™m sure it will be another honour of some sort!

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]: [name_f]Margot[/name_f] honors my momā€™s late biological mother, and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] honors my nana.

[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]: [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] honors my momā€™s bio grandma, [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] honors my late aunt on my dadā€™s side.

[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] [name_f]Judith[/name_f]: [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f] honors my late cousin and [name_f]Judith[/name_f] honors my mom.

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Kristabel[/name_f]: honors my momā€™s bio great grandmother, [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and [name_f]Kristabel[/name_f] honors my late dad.

[name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Armando[/name_m]: [name_u]Michael[/name_u] honors my brother and [name_m]Armando[/name_m] honors my late tata.

[name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m]: [name_u]Jude[/name_u] honors my mom and [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m] honors my dad.

[name_f]Erica[/name_f] [name_u]Taylor[/name_u]: [name_f]Erica[/name_f] honors my cousin and my uncle and [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] honors my sister.

[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_m]Wayne[/name_m]: [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is a boy name that Iā€™ve liked and [name_m]Wayne[/name_m] after my dadā€™s late brother.

I love a good excuse to share my honorific list! Nearly all of my names are honors in one way or another, but my top ones stick out the most! They honor so many different people, so many different places and thingsā€” here they are!

:butterfly: [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] :butterfly:

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is for all of my ancestrial [name_u]Charles[/name_u], as well as my love for the [name_u]French[/name_u] culture. I always want names that sound very suitable for royalty, which [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] definitely encompasses. [name_f]My[/name_f] preferred nickname for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], which holds personal meaning to my family, as my mom had a man say to her ā€œremember my name [Sunny]ā€ and since, the name has brought great luck to us. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is for an ancestrial (many great) grandmother, who was named [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] (muh-tild).

:bouquet: [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] :bouquet:

This name honors a great number of important people; [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] honors my second (third?) great aunt [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] ā€œLillieā€, and her nieceā€” my great grandmother. Her name was [name_f]Betty[/name_f], a form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], which is what the middle (and technically the first honors). Her favorite flowers were lilies of the valley, which is another honor for [name_f]Lily[/name_f].

:open_book: [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] :open_book:

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is an honor for [name_u]Saint[/name_u] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], my favorite saint, as well as (stretchily) the name [name_f]Chiara[/name_f], as they share a meaning, and [name_f]Chiara[/name_f] was a contender for my name. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] together honors [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u], as well as [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_u]Montgomery[/name_u]. [name_f]Mae[/name_f] honors the month of [name_f]May[/name_f], as well as a town I grew up with.

:sunny: [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] :sunny:

The briefest description on my listā€” [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] honors my nan! Itā€™s her name backwards, elaborated.

:crossed_swords: [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] :crossed_swords:

I always say I wonā€™t go into detail of the story behind this name, as it isnā€™t mine, and I will stay faithful to this. All I will say is that it honors the only person I believe who has a fully pure soul. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], in another form, honors my middle name. [name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] honors my mother, as it is the masculine form of her name.

:teddy_bear: [name_u]Jack[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] :teddy_bear:

[name_u]Jack[/name_u] honors [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], Mississippi, as well as CS [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]. It also counts for my love of reading, as 90% of my favorite male characters (aka the ones Iā€™ve been in love with ) have been named [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] honors my dad.

:evergreen_tree: [name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] :evergreen_tree:

[name_u]Henry[/name_u], too, is a story for another time, but the preferred nickname of [name_m]Huck[/name_m] honors [name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. [name_u]Charles[/name_u] honors all that [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] does, above.

:mountain: [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] :mountain:

[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] is for [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] ā€œNatā€ [name_u]Blake[/name_u] in [name_m]Little[/name_m] Men, therefore LMA herself. [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] is for my dad, like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].

Yours are lovely - creative, literary and also meaningful but stand on their own!

Some on my list:

[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] - honours my favourite character, [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] Fanshawe, and [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] is the Italian name for [name_f]Geneva[/name_f], which is also a nod to one of my favourite novels, Frankenstein! The combo, [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], is very much a [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] Fanshawe name, since sheā€™s associated with the colour red

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] - but also a nod to my mum and nan in a super vague way (they have the middle name [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] wrote [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f])

[name_f]Bronte[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] - this is another [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] honourā€¦ [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] is of course for the [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] sisters, [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] is for the character [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] [name_m]Linton[/name_m].

[name_u]Snow[/name_u] - for [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] Snowe, of [name_f]Villette[/name_f], since I canā€™t use [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] itself!

[name_m]Seamus[/name_m] - not sure Iā€™d use it but maybe in the middle? Anyhow, itā€™s a vague honour for my mum, from a show we both watched and loved together

[name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] - this was the name of one of the [name_u]Isle[/name_u] of Wight ferries and was, for whatever reason, the one me and my brother always wanted to go on when we went on holiday. So itā€™s an honour for family holidays and in turn, family?

[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - my great grandmother had an opal ring, so I always associate this with her (and also, it was the name of my form group at secondary, so a slight nod to my friends too)

[name_f]Dora[/name_f] - there was a distant writer aunt on my grandadā€™s side called [name_f]Dora[/name_f], and he was trying to find out more about her. I love the name anyway, but it could be a slight nod towards that side of the family too

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] - for [name_u]Henry[/name_u] Clerval, of Frankenstein

iā€™ve recently been looking into my family tree and playing with honor names, so hereā€™s a bunch i came up with!! can you tell what my family heritage is from these names :joy:

[name_m]Simon[/name_m] :sunny: ā€“ honors myself/father/grandfather by having an S first initial. he also honors my love for writing and reading in a way, as i grew up obsessed with this name and would name every character simon.

[name_u]Luca[/name_u] :ocean: ā€“ i would have been given this name if i had been born a boy! it also honors my mother who is named [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] :))

[name_m]Omar[/name_m] :evergreen_tree: ā€“ a recent addition! itā€™s my uncleā€™s middle name and it has been really growing on me lately!

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] :cherry_blossom: ā€“ an honor for my grandfather [name_m]Salvador[/name_m] as well as continuing the S name tradition!

[name_f]Vita[/name_f] / [name_f]Vera[/name_f] :crescent_moon: ā€“ both honors for the name [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], which belongs to a number of women in my family tree including my lovely grandmother and great-grandmother.

[name_u]Alma[/name_u] :butterfly: ā€“ honors my motherā€™s surname, which is a beautiful name that i wish were included in my own name

[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] / [name_f]Mariette[/name_f] :kite: ā€“ one of my favorite [name_f]Mari[/name_f]- names, after my grandmother and aunt who both have [name_u]Maria[/name_u] in their names!

[name_u]Rio[/name_u] :crystal_ball: ā€“ honors the city i was born in, both in similarity to the name and because of the prominent river flowing through it.

[name_u]Quarry[/name_u] :mountain_snow: ā€“ apart from the wonderful quirky sound of this name, it honors an old quarry turned nature center in the town i grew up in. i used to visit there all the time with my family and there are pictures of me there every winter. it represents my love for nature and my hometown, as well as my friends and family that i have so many memories with at this place.

Piro :milky_way: ā€“ an interesting new find for me! it is the maiden name of my great grandmother and i think it sounds so cool as a name

Lujan :candle: ā€“ i would use this as a middle because i think it could be tricky to pronounce where i live. i love how it looks and sounds and it is an honor for my grandmother!

[name_f]Johanna[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f] :leaves: ā€“ for my lifelong best friend [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]

[name_f]Gioia[/name_f] :sunflower: ā€“ for a [name_m]Sergio[/name_m], [name_f]Julia[/name_f], & [name_f]Giulia[/name_f]!

bonus: honors involving my partner

not going to explain most of these for his privacy but here are some more taking in to account my partner and his family!

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ā€“ my partner and i first got together when we were both in a production of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] the Musical hehe. would probably use it as a middle, but i think it would be a sweet way to honor our relationship and where it began.

Most of my honor names arenā€™t actually for people lol but here they are:

[name_u]Anne[/name_u] - the first of many [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables honor names on my list. I just, you know, love AoGG  [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is also my momā€™s middle name, so it honors her as well
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - honorsā€¦myself? :joy: (my birth stone) but I also have several close friends born in [name_u]October[/name_u] who it could honor
[name_u]Glen[/name_u] - my dadā€™s and my granddadā€™s name, plus my favorite brotherā€™s middle name
[name_u]Jean[/name_u] - honors my grandma, named [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f]
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] - similar meaning to my momā€™s name, [name_f]Krista[/name_f]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m] - similar meaning to my grandpaā€™s name, [name_m]Kraig[/name_m]
[name_f]Maud[/name_f] - for [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - for [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f] [name_m]Bennet[/name_m]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f] - my grandmotherā€™s name, plus it honors my love for music
[name_f]Avonlea[/name_f] - I donā€™t think this needs an explanation :joy:
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] - neither does this one :joy:
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] - or this, for that matter :joy:
[name_f]Caledonia[/name_f] - my family is from [name_u]Scotland[/name_u], (we have a coat of arms, a family tartan, and we all have kilts/skirts, that kind of stuff) plus, I love the song, especially the version by Celtic Woman, about finding who you are, and coming home

I donā€™t have many honour names currently but I lile jow meaningful they are so will probably seaech for more in future. Currently I have:

[name_f]Arina[/name_f] - to honour my nan, [name_f]Irene[/name_f]. Although, I noticed it can also work to honour my bfā€™s mum, [name_f]Marina[/name_f], too.

[name_f]Alys[/name_f] - works as an honour for my mum, whoā€™s middle name is Aliso. This was actually unintentional but became a bonus when I realised.

[name_u]George[/name_u] - this was my grandadā€™s name.

[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - honours my bf, whoā€™s middle name is [name_u]Robert[/name_u] after his grandfather who had the same middle.

Youā€™re so creative with your honors! And theyā€™re all charming too.

Iā€™m Jewish and weā€™re not technically supposed to use the exact name but rather the first initial of deceased relatives as honor names. But being a very reformed Jewish person, I would love to useā€¦

[name_u]David[/name_u] as a middle name after my dad

[name_m]Albert[/name_m] as a middle name or a first name after my grandpa. I like [name_u]David[/name_u] as a first name too, but thatā€™s also my DHā€™s brother and nephewā€™s name, so itā€™d be too much. DH hates most of my boy names, and actually loves [name_m]Albert[/name_m].

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] after my great grandma. I never met her, but I actually just love this name honor or not!

[name_f]Nellie[/name_f] after another great grandma. She died when I was a baby, but my whole family speaks the most highly of her. And she was always in the kitchen cooking, which is usually what I do too.

Then there is my grandma [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], my Grandma, [name_f]Annette[/name_f] and my great aunt, [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] who I would like to honor but donā€™t love their namesā€¦so Iā€™d do first initials there. Such as:

[name_f]Azalea[/name_f], [name_f]Aviva[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (again), [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]

[name_u]Atlas[/name_u], [name_u]Asa[/name_u], [name_u]Adrian[/name_u], [name_m]Adriel[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Bastian[/name_m]

And then I could see myself getting creative and using the name [name_m]Gibson[/name_m] to honor my dad after his favorite baseball player. [name_u]Loving[/name_u] baseball was a bond that we had, so itā€™d be special. And I love the nn [name_m]Gibby[/name_m]. I also like [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] nn [name_m]Gibby[/name_m] too!
