If you had to honor a Myra in the United States, which is not really bad, but unthinkable in the UK because of a specific bearer of the name.
How would you honor a Myra? Myrna? Mirnelia, I saw. Mirabel, Mirabella, Mirabelle, Mayra, Mara?

This is tricky! I’m UK based and definitely wouldn’t use [name_f]Myra[/name_f]. I think your trying really hard to find the right honour come with some wonderful ideas but personally I would use [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] as an honour for [name_f]Myra[/name_f].
I’m not sure if you’ve thought of [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] but she shares the same letters as [name_f]Myra[/name_f] and has a similar sound the only difference is one letter. [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] feels fashionable has positive association and I think would clearly indicate a [name_f]Myra[/name_f] honour.
Hopefully [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] works!

I think I would use the similar [name_f]Mira[/name_f] if [name_f]Myra[/name_f] were off the table. [name_f]Mara[/name_f] would be my second choice, then maybe [name_f]Maya[/name_f] (or [name_f]Mya[/name_f] to keep a closer look to Myra).

i’m from the uk and wouldn’t use myra.
mara is my favourite alternative.
something like amaia / amaya / amara could also work x
[name_f]Myra[/name_f], pretty though she is, will probably always be associated with the moors murders. I think I’d go with something of a similar sound like [name_f]Moira[/name_f] 
I’d probably go with [name_f]Mira[/name_f], [name_f]Myrna[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] (as an anagram).
I’m from the UK, and although I’m really interested in true crime and was reading up about the case very recently, I didn’t make the connection. Maybe that’s just me though, since a few other people have already made the connection. But I do think it’s a common enough name that it wouldn’t be an issue to most people.

If the name is controversial I might try to use ther persons middle name instead as a way to honor them.

So maybe [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
I also read it could be a misspelling of Myrrh which would be a very interesting middle name.
I honestly think this may be a situation where you should pick a symbolic honor name rather than a literal one. Outside of that maybe [name_f]Myranda[/name_f]?
i wouldnt use it. I think [name_f]Myrna[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f] and [name_f]Mira[/name_f] are all good suggestions! Does the person you’re honouring have a middle name, and could you use that instead?
I wouldn’t use [name_f]Myra[/name_f] in the UK, personally.
I think [name_f]Myranda[/name_f] is a clever suggestion since it contains all the letters of [name_f]Myra[/name_f].
I also thought of Homaira/Humaira/Humayra - though that name would probably only make sense if you’re from the Muslim community.
I’m from the UK, and see no issues with [name_f]Myra[/name_f]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] with @EleanorVintage naming the association, I wasn’t familiar. Personally, I still wouldn’t be bothered about my child sharing the name with a serial killer from before even my parents were born. [name_f]Moira[/name_f] and [name_f]Mira[/name_f] are good suggestions though if the association is too much for you.
